ShuffleTech Jamming (1 Viewer)

Cartamundi has a line of cards dedicated for shuffle machines... But I believe they sell directly to casinos. I have few decks if you want to try them out. You can check them out in Dix database...

@Dix has experience opening these up...maybe he knows what could be the issue.

I guess he will be sober in 48h....
Can I plead insanity?...... If not, then.... no contest. :D

!st thing I'd try before opening it up is the trick of removing the 3 screws I showed on the last page.... may not work in this case, but worth a shot & costs nothing.

Pieces of broken plastic inside are never a sign of good news.

Tried removing the three screws... no change.

I messaged Chip yesterday from shuffletech so I’m going to see what he says... I agree about the small piece of plastic as well but am hoping that because it’s brand new, the repair may be just one plastic piece to replace once they open it up.

I hope I didn’t piss chip off as I messaged a few times yesterday ... :/

In the images below.. that’s from the side tray view. I circled where I see a few wires taped with what looks like clear tape... is this normal on your units ?
Yes.... the wires get taped to the sides so they have no chance of getting caught up in the action during the process.

You inevitably have to free them if you're taking it apart, but always tape them back to the sides when you put it back together (in as close to the same way they were prior... best you can remember).

I did notice some wires that seems to obstruct the elevator lowering but that was only once- I honestly don’t know was hats happenning down there but if I had to guess, one of the “plastic tabs” that pushes the elevator up is broken and does not have enough power to get it back up to the top.

I’ve tried with like 15 cards and it was able to but not always. The jamming sound is so terrible - literally sounds like a weightlifter trying to clean and press a world record mixed with passing a kidney stone.

@Dix - any videos or pics of you going inside the shuffletech? That would be huge and perhaps you should make one!

Can't remember if I took any pics or not. I'll have to check my camera. I know I was going to, can't remember if I did one of those times I had it apart.

With that kind of sound going on, I'd probably try to remove the drive belt & then check how free & smooth the action of the elevator is. That would lead you in one of a couple directions.

UPDATE:

Full story is I scored this NEW shuffle tech off marketplace, got it shipped to me thanks to @Raphmivey (I let him keep the copags for the trouble) and I was willing to take my chances on if this unit would work or not. IT kinda worked... but I don't have the @Dix skills to open this puppy up as easy a fix as it may be.... so here is the update....

Chip from Shuffletech got back to me and was great by email and on the phone. I packaged the unit up and needed a printer. Toronto is in lockdown, and I can't print at work... no printer here... so went to staples... only curbside pickup... annoying. Found a UPS store that charged me $2 for one single copy. Fun. Then headed to the Canada post office (did not want to send from UPS) to send the parcel. I get there (line had about 6 people in front of me) and the lady says "you need to remember to fill out the customs form online next time" - I always forget that, I mean what happened to the days when I can show up and pay for something to send. Nonetheless I fill out a form and have to declare the value etc. etc. in case it gets lost. The cost to ship is $41 so at this point I am still in the black knowing the cost of a new Shuffletech, but yes it is tedious doing all this running around.

I will await the repair/shipping back to Canada cost... Chip said it will be about $115 or $150 (misheard him on the phone), and shipping will be probably another 30-40$ I would guess to get it from IL to CAN.

Whenever I get it back, it will be a marginal profit if I decide to keep it or sell it... have not decided yet.

Moral of the story: If you break even walking out of casino... take it as a win and shutup.

sorry to hear about your trouble @davethesave . Having known it cost that much to get it fixed I would have proposed you to have a look at it myself. I have no experience with shuffle machine but I can fix pretty much anything generally...

Thanks @Raphmivey but the plastic piece I found above led me to believe that to fix it I’d need to gorilla glue it or get a new plastic piece... and even that wouldn’t be guaranteed...

I appreciate the offer though!

You neanderthal.... you expect postal workers to actually be helpful & do work? :ROFLMAO:

Yea,.. that's kinda my suspicion as well.

Will update soon, but Chip and Shuffletech have received my shuffler and are probably working on my shuffler.

Chip and shuffletech was waiting to receive parts for my unit... I received the bill in my email yesterday... The cost is:

$202.80 USD

($114.90 for the service)
($87.90 for the shipping to Canada)

(For you Americans... according to my exchange rate... that's about 255.85.... who knows what he PP exchange will be!)

I am not pleased at these asinine shipping costs however I do not blame shuffltech at all... I just would like some American clarification as to these costs! It is so lousy... I will be asking Chip to clarify and see what can be done - if anything.... One thought I have is to get it shipped to relatives in the USA but who knows about these borders opening anytime soon.

**it should be noted, that when I shipped the shuffler down to Illinois, the shipping cost was $40 Canadian dollars.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo…...

I finally got my shuffletech back from Chip in Illinois. Thanks.
The packaging was fine and full of cardboard, however it could've had some more padding... but it survived the shipping. The only note inside was a note telling me to save the box in case I wanted to send it back... no invoice, or other paperwork - but at this point I just wanted it to work (the thing was brand new and the previous owners somehow messed it up without ever using it. What a shame.

It worked. Awesome sauce. I am happy... but my pocket is not. ….

If you checked out my previous post you saw the fees I paid for all this... OH BUT WAIT... THERES MORE...

So Canadian customs are a bunch of idiots and seemed to look at the VALUE of the goods that were being returned to me.... in doing that they proceeded to ignore the fact that Chip and Shuffletech labeled it "RETURNED GOODS".... and because of this oversight on Canadian customs part they charged me $92.05 CAD in duties and taxes. At the post office I paid once I found out that I could Appeal this annoying oversight. (I did not want to risk them sending it back to USA... and then being forced to pay more shipping.)

So I printed out all the Chip-DTS email thread and servicing invoice proving that this was MY ITEM all along and it was being returned me so I should be reimbursed my $92.05 cad.

I mailed out the paperwork and now have to wait.

FOR ANYONE THINKING THAT PICKING UP A USED SHUFFLETECH AND SENDING IT DOWN TO USA TO GET REPAIRED IS A SEAMLESS PROCESS... IT ISN'TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. BE PREPARED TO GET ABSOLUTELY A$$-RAPED ON SHIPPING COSTS, OH AND TIME AND EFFORT.

AT ANY RATE, I WILL LIKELY RESELL IT TO SOMEONE, HOPEFULLY TO RECOUP MY COSTS ETC.

FYI, I had a dispute with Canadian customs (they charged me the full tax on each box of a 2 box shipment even though the invoice already covered both boxes), and they refunded the amount without issue (I did have to wait).

When I sent my shuffler in for repair I drove across the border each time to save on shipping (had to send it in twice, first time worked for a year more, the second time 6 months). Good luck!

Just wondering if any Canadian in the GTA has tried Shippsy. $6.99 to get your package across the border for pickup in Toronto area.

If I was planning to sell my shuffletech on here do you think it would do better in the AUCTION or FOR SALE section?

And if so... how much should I put it up for sale for?

If I am not allowed to ask this in a forum I apologize. Just thought I would ask peoples opinion... :)

Thank you!

as I said..

Wouldn't hurt to throw up an ad. If the price is too high then people will just pass on it.

Might be able to entice someone with a trade for chips? Seems like people here have a mental block when it comes to spending money on anything other than chips. Sometimes see collections worth several thousands on top of a rollout table topper or folding table. Weird dichotomy.

regarding a trade - shipping to Canada may cost a ton and cancel out the trade equity...
