Should I Stay Or Should I Go? (1 Viewer)

Im trying to decide if I should sell these 300 Crystal Park (CP) chips which ive owned for close to 25 years. Without a $0.50 frac I can't use them with my current group. I'm too finicky (touches of OCD?) to use another Casino's $0.50 chip and I'm too much of a purist to buy the tribute chips or relabled THCs (I'd rather sell these and buy a complete set of tributes). Waiting around to nab 2 racks of actual CP fracs looks less & less likely to happen and it's gonna cost BIG $$$ if it does. I'd most likely wind up having to buy a full set for $2,000 then selling off what I don't need. I've enjoyed hunting & filling in a few hundred chips in my Mirage Springs set (also owned by me for nearly 25 years) but the Bud Jones chips are close to half the price of Paulson.

I love playing with these CP chips because they look, feel and sound great! but I need to decide. What are your thoughts?

The CP frac is a solid RHC chip. I'd find some suitable solid RHC chips and have @Gear make color matched labels.

I agree, you probably won't be able to find the fracs anytime soon. With todays market you will probably have to pay 2k a rack and a kidney. Have you thought of using them and just having one, $1.00 blind? I've done it a few times and it mostly works.

I don't need anymore of the $1's or $5's, or the $2's lol. If you sell I would be interested pending the price. I'm guessing your best bet would be to auction them.

Great suggestion. I'm actually going to try to buy some of the diamond Jack $1 chips to use in my Bahamia set

I 100% agree with not making relabeled fracs. As far as not using another casinos fracs, I don’t blame you either. But I’d definitely use starburst or some other nondescript blank chip for fracs before I’d let a beautiful set go unused.
But I reply to suggest your money estimates might be off. According to PCF classifieds, it looks like those fracs were selling for $400 per rack 4-5 years ago. In those 4-5 years, chip prices in general have inflated significantly, often 2x-3x. So I don’t know what those exact chips would sell for today, but it feels like it might be a lot more than you expect.

I agree. I paid around $2.5 per chip for my CP set. The fracs are on loan to me. I would guess that they would be $700 at a minimum for the rack. Probably in the 1k'ish range.
