the initials are probably actually SDM, as M is usually the last name and in the middle
 
lol great lookin chips though dont look like any wear, a bit over priced , my opinion

but some of those old chips like that, once in awhile are from old cardrooms or private clubs and possibly a casino and not somebody's initials

some of the chipboard group usually know

They've been listed a while. I finally messaged the seller to ask for a couple more pics of the case.
 
C. W. Rice Co used primarily in California is what antique gambling chips says.

"L" MOLD -- 32 L's. Old mold, used mostly in California; not used today ... .... ..... In fact, most of the chips found with this mold were in California...... ..... C. W. Rice Co.......For the picture on the left, the incused embossed lines were filled with soap for photography purposes. The chip is unattributed. The reverse side says $5.00. .. ..... UPDATE: this mold is not in use anymore, has not been used to make chips in some 20 years. It was donated to the Nevada Historical Society and is on display there.
