Hello everyone! Newbie here looking for some advice, especially from those who have a Tiki King set. We play .25/.50 with a typical $40 buy-in at my home game. I am looking to purchase a semi-custom set of Tiki Kings with the .25/1/5/20 denominations. My question is what colors should I get for the chips? I just got my sample set in the mail. I am leaning towards white for the $1 and red for the $5 because those seem to be standard across the poker industry. However, I don't really see a standard color for the .25c and the $20. I am leaning away from the orange because I don't want a dirty stack issue with the red. So that leaves me with blue, green, black or purple for the .25 and the $20. What are your suggestions? Thanks so much.

Go Cali colors! Orange/Blue/Red/Purple!

You're correct that in many different sets 1s are white and 5s are red. However I almost universally prefer blue 1s.

But of course that usually will only work if you don't have dirty stack issues with the orange.

something else that we should mention is that although there are common colors found across casinos and many different home sets, it's also a matter of what you like. and that's especially true when it comes to the artwork of ceramic chips. There might just be some that you like more than others. For example maybe you really do like the artwork on the white chip but you like the idea of using blue for your $1. Make the white chip either your 25c or your $20.

I had just realized that the tiki Kings actually have fewer colors than some of the other chips that I have from BR Pro. so if I was going to build a set with $0.25 $1 $5 and $20 chips I would probably do:

White 25c
Blue $1
Red $5
Purple $20
Black $100

I would avoid the orange chip as well to avoid the dirty stack if you're dead set on red chips for $5.

I was looking at these too and got a sample set. The lady said you could do the customs and not get any vaule printed on then and they would just make the Tiki a little bigger to fill in the space. Can't decide if I like that for tournaments or not. I don't have any friends so I am not sure why I am buying a bunch of chips but.... that's another story .lol.

I started off with chips without denominations. I'll never go back. I couldn't stand players always asking me what the value was and then having to watch every bet and catch errors. Total nightmare. Never again.

'round here, she's known as Kristil  :ROFLMAO:

Semi-Tikis were my first set as well. I’d say go with whatever colors are your favorite. My favorite chip was the orange. So I built my set around that. We play eight players with $20-$40 buy in cash, with mostly microstakes. I knew my workhorse chip was going to be the $1, so I made the orange be the $1, then built the set around that. Using a color wheel allowed me to see complimentary colors, therefore I got the blue to be the $0.25 and the purple to be the $5 (since those are opposites on the wheel). Also cause orange and blue, Auburn fan here. Did a white nickel to keep it light and bright. There are chips that hardly see the table like our $5 and $20, so let that be a factor in deciding. Not saying this approach is the right way, but just a way. Good luck and happy chipping!

Get more samples if you haven't already! Moare is better! I think the orange and red would probably be fine. YMMV, i got samples of a ton of their stuff before settling on semi-custom DDLM. I got black 20$s from another PCF'er upgrading to 43mms. +1 for Kristil being made frome awesome!

I really like those DDLM. I'm going to get a sample. You got me rethinking the Tiki Kings.

I just got a big set of DDLMs. I used their standard 25c through $1,000. I went semi-custom by substituting the yellow 5,000 as a 5c chip, and used the pink as a rebuy. And those $5,000 plaques are sweet....a bit pricey, but they’re awesome.

There’s a lot of different chips in this set to choose from and make it your own.

We do a lot of tournament poker so I used a lot of the normal colorings. I also knew that I'd kick myself if we didn't use the 5k chips because that blue is an awesome color so I did some 5k chips as blue. I also caved and got some 5k plaques so when we get deep into the night and folks have big stacks we swap out for the 5k plaques instead of the chips and people dig that.

The Red Tikiking would also be tragic not to have so what's not better than a red bounty chip!

That's what I did.

If I were you and you are playing cash games at .25/.50 with 40$ buy in:

Green 25c
White $1
Red $5
Purple $20
White $100

I really like the looks of these. I originally had a T25 Tiki King set with stock colors but we have since moved to a T100 base so I had to order some 5000 chips. Yesterday I ordered red 5000 but after seeing Chris Manzoni's video of how the orange and red are too close in colors I changed the order to a blue 5000 and your pic confirms I made the right choice. I do love the red and green colors though........all of the Tiki colors are awesome. Looks like you run a MTT.....if you switched to a T100 base a green 25K would be pretty sweet.........

yeah, that red is an awesome color and it deserves to be used for something, but the orange and it can have dirty stacks, it makes a stellar bounty chip however

the blue is an awesome chip too, love that vibrancy, only real chip I wasn't a fan of was white actually.

if only I'd stopped with the ceramics...
