Hi, I’m new to the chip game. I was getting my dad a custom set for his retirement gift, and I got bit. My dad taught us the game growing up, but only had slugged dice chips. When I got here, it opened my eyes to all the chips out there. Someone on here saved me from spending $300 on Chiplab, but cost me thousands of dollars in inevitable future chip purchases.

So far I’ve only ordered samples, but it’s taking every ounce of discipline in my body to not pull the trigger on a $1000+ set. My preference is accelerating in price point rapidly. If there is a way back, someone please save me.

So far my favorites are:
Le Noirs
Dunes
Pharaohs
Matsui Emerald Bay
Tiki Kings
Royal Card Room

Welcome...to the sickness. If you buy great non-custom chips, you're just renting them. They keep their value. So it's not *really* like you are spending $1000s... :whistling::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:
Hahaha well if you put it that way...

Welcome, if you can keep it at $1k you’re well ahead of almost everyone here.
Oh no... I guess it’s only a matter of time...

Welcome! Le Noirs are BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you! I almost bought a set for $1500 haha, but I feel like I need to understand my taste better before getting a premium set...for my first set...

Can I swoon you?

Is that the endgame? Does everyone eventually just take the best chip designs from the sets they like and make a custom from CPC?
Not always. CPCs are most valuable for customs. You can personalize the colors, edgespots and labels!

@FordPickup92 - I...my god

@sadwallet - no, I chose CPC as the final destination of my own journey, others see Paulson THC/IHC or TRKs as superior. There is no one right answer, all personal preference once you reach that tier
;)

100% agree and that's why samples are so important! Feeling, seeing and hearing different brands of chips gives you insight to what works best for you

What are THC/IHC or TRKs? I got some newer Paulson samples, but I actually haven’t liked the sharp edges as much.

Not necessarily. Some custom chips are inspired by already established casino chips, but it's not like every chip is that way. For my upcoming customs, some of the chips are inspired by others' customs and established casino chips, but not all.

Get samples of various chips and see what you like best before committing big bucks. If you buy Paulson chips though, as alluded to by @FDLmold above, however, you'll be able to get your money back if you don't like them, or may otherwise may make a small profit back on them depending on what you get.

Welcome aboard!

THC - top hat and cane
IHC - inverted hat and cane
TRK - TR king, chip maker
Give me a sec I'll get you images

And these are TRK small crowns

CPC now owns the rights to make small crowns, but it is not the same clay recipe

Welcome sir, epic username! I say go all out and build a full set of fat hats!! They are pretty resonable usually under $15 each but not always!! Haha 48mm paulsons are awesome!!
