I'm back in Colorado renting a house from a friend of friend.
She stopped by today and noticed my big pile of singles stacked all over the kitchen table (soon to be for sale if I can ever get around to it.)
She said she had an old set she used to play with her friends way back when. One of the friends father got them from Tahoe back in the '80s.
She went to the closet and dug these out :

She said she thought they were real chips from the casino. I couldn't tell if they were real, or just fantasy hotstamps. Or how old they might be.
I found this on eBay :

but that doesn't necessarily mean they are real or worth anywhere near $5 / chip.

Anybody know if these have a history? Any idea of age and or value?

Thanks. I guess the key word here is 'Gift Shop Item'. So not real chips.

I've been googling a bit and seems the mold is Bud Jones but the chips are Burt Co.

So these are between a mass-produced 'fantasy' chip and a genuine casino chip.
I saw an old ad for a 996 chip 'FUN' hot stamped set that sold for 36c / chip (or seemed to anyway)

So would 40c - 45c / chip be about right?

Solid color, common color, used die-card mold chips, from a casino gift shop, 40-45 cents a chip sounds high to me.

Just realized I didn't say 'plastic' in the OP. (I equate Bud Jones with plastic.)
So, less than 25c / chip I assume.
BTW, I'm not planning on buying these. Just told my friend I'd do some research to find out what
they were worth. She had no idea.

Mold is owned by CPC now, was originally made for Bud Jones by the Burt Co. Burt Co made tons of chips in different molds for different distributors. For Bud Jones they made the DIECAR and the NEVADA molds.

My set sold for $0.30 per, but the listing was up forever, it is an unloved mold around here.

Yours were clay or plastic? $.30 seems high for plastic, but low for clay (or I guess that's what you mean by unloved:)

My guess for plastic would 15c / chip?

Mine were clay. I don't know if these were made in plastic or not.

I doubt you'd find a buyer for plastics.
