Ruggles Poker Room - Dayton, OH (1 Viewer)

I have never been to the Ruggles Club, however, I do play occasional at the Shark Tank in Columbus. The Shark Tank is actually a really nice place to play cards. The staff is super friendly, it is clean and you feel comfortable playing there. You can tell they care about their reputation. The Shark Tank often times promotes the Ruggles Club’s tournaments. I highly doubt the Shark Tank would put their reputation on the line to promote a sketchy poker club. Just my thoughts....

Hmm I didn't know this place existed until now. I have family in that area, definitely interested in a trip report if you end up going.

Stalked some chip stack photos and it looks like they have ceramics, beats dice chips!

Played a 2.5 hour session tonight. Bought in for $280 and cashed out for $550. That doesn't include the $20 fee to play. The game wasn't raked. Table seemed to be all locals. Good guys for the most part. Definitely a soft game.

Chips were ceramic and pretty nice.

Are you allowed to tip the dealers or are they paid by the club?

Tipping is what got the Gemini club shut down in Berea several years ago when Carl Monday sent in undercover players wearing cameras.

Do you pay a flat fee for the day or is it per 1/2 hour or hour?

It was a $20 flat fee.

You can tip the dealers but you have to buy "extra" chips specifically for that purpose. Supposedly that is the loop hole.

That is the same thing Gemini did. They were nicknamed "chocolate chips" because they were brown.

I'm guessing Ruggles paid off the right local government officials then.

Sounded like it. The tip chips were purple there.

How many tables? At $20 flat fee, how could a place make any money?

Here are some pics of the Shark Tank in Columbus. You can see the "Dealer Dollars" chips in the picture. They have good WSOP satellites. That's about the only time I play there. Any thoughts on the chip type? Before Hollywood Casino opened in Columbus this place was packed! Still gets a decent crowd.

Please note the monster stack is not mine!

These look like Claysmith Triangle & Stick plastic/weighted chips with custom labels.

I've heard good things about Shark Tank but have never made it out there.
