I have some chips from Clay Smith. I have a tournament set I have used for years, and they have served me great. I believe they are a molded plastic chip with a steel insert inside them. They come with rather sharp edges. My tournament set chips have rounded edges from all the years of use. I have cash games chips they haven't been used and the sharp edges are annoying. Is there a way to simulate play to get the edges rounded? I was thing putting them in some type of tumbler and rotating it? I don't know if this work or may ruin the chips?

I am actually sitting down right now and smoothing my edges.. It's very time consuming, but just sitting in front of the tv drinking some scotch with a green a pack of green scrub pads and rubbing the edges. WARNING, it does distress the edges of the chips, but it smooths them out. If I didn't smooth them out it would eat up my cheap felt table. Hope that helps..

I wish I would have joined PCF before ordering my first set, but these will do for now.. I guess it can be a loaner set in the future when I get an actual decent set. New to hosting my own games and the sharp edges have been driving me nuts.

To the OP, sharp edges are often a thing coveted in the chip world. In clay chips, it means newer and unused (much). chips will become rounded after a lot of table time, and if you’ve been to a casino and seen well-rounded casino chips, it’s because they are beat to hell.

It’s kind of like going onto a classic car collectors form, and then asking how are you get your 1957 Chevy to look more rusty.

Now, with plastic cheapie poker chips, who really gives a damn. If you want rounded edges go ahead take some sandpaper to them. Just thought I would give you some context as to why people are reacting the way they are/

Well, it looks like the scotch impaired my reading last night. My post was intended for cheap plastic w/ metal slug sets that have the QC of an IED factory. In the cheap crappy chips like the ones pictured the edges are littered with excess plastic and need cleaned up or it will litter the playing surface. I don't recommend wrecking your better sets.

However, I do know of QC issues with Poker Knights sets having rough unfinished edges as pictured below. If this is the issue you're having I wouldn't judge you for smoothing the edges out.
