A few years ago, more than I would admit, I started hosting a monthly poker game in my basement.
Because we're a Penn State family, the obvious name of the basement became The Lion's Den.
The Lion's Den was originally my father-in-law's residence, so it's not the man cave of some others, but it does the job.

Now that I'm retired and have some time, I thought I'd share some of the happenings at the Lion's Den, hence this thread.

The Lion's Den has two table and *usually* hosts a cash game on the 2nd Friday of each month and a tournament (with cash game to follow when the tourney gets to one table) on the last Friday of each month. If you're in the Ellicott City, MD area sometime just shoot me a PM and we'll be glad to have you.
There's quite a long list of invitees, but there's also a core of regular players including PCFers Chippy McChiperson, Krafticus, MrBo, Kirchausen, Phil Lafond and Buffalo.

The cash game is usually 0.25 / 0.50 NLHE ($100 max-buy-in) with higher stakes occasionally, and on 3/11/2016 we held our first limit game.

The tournament is $35 buy-in + $5 bounty and usually gets 12 - 20 players.

Some initial pictures of the room and some chip pron follow. I'll try to post some pics after every game.

Enjoy

Dennis

Chip pron !!

My sets aren't as large as some since I only keep sets large enough for the games I run. All sets assume we'll get 20 players at the event.

PCA set complete with fracs for cash game

Best $5 chips on the market and the $100s aren't bad either (y)

Custom Lion's Den Tournament Set

My first attempt at a custom set. Worked with the folks at ASM on these.
Assumed it would be my only custom set, so tried for lots of colors and spots
There are two different $100s. I original went for yellow/dg yellow/red, but Jim B convinced me to go with yellow/red
and I ended up with both... Jim B is the man

Nice pics,

love the sample sets on the wall too. deadwoods, ritz, vineyards ...

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a great place to host/play.

Looks like sliding doors in one of your pictures. That qualifies this room as a walk-out and can be referred to as a "lower level" and not just a basement. :D

Awesome setup, Dennis! Love the pics and stories.

Great place, great scene, great chips, and great crowd!

Thanks for sharing! (y)

Really great set up! I remember admiring your Lions Den cash set in a wood case at Krafty's a few years ago.

Thanks.... Actually I'm not using the wooden case for those any more, using if for spares. It was too hard to get chips out of the slots...easier with racks

Great write-up by a great host with a great poker room. Looking forward to following the highlights here on nights I can't make it.

I noticed you Vineyard Sample set is missing the 500. I know I have one somewhere. I'll have to bring it

Thanks for taking the time to show us your awesome room and chip sets. Truly a beautiful room with excellent equipment all around. The only thing we disagree on are big ten schools....

Some shots from last nights NLHE tournament. Full house last night with 20 players and 5 rebuys. Congrats to @krichausen and two others who chopped. The host was bubble boy :(

Tournament starting stacks.. 12/12/7/5
