RIP Jerry Jeff Walker (2 Viewers)

Jerry Jeff was an all-timer. He was the country version of the Velvet Underground (like them, not many heard of Jerry Jeff in his early years, but all who did started bands or started writing songs) and Black Flag (like them, he developed a network of venues and touring stops for country music singers who prior to his work stayed in basically a 20 mile radius from their "home" bar).

Ironically, given his own writing abilities, his most famous song in some circles apart from Mr. Bojangles is not his own work, but a Ray Wylie Hubbard song, Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother (link to a great, short Texas Monthly note about the song here).
