Anyone here checking out the grand opening this Thursday? Probably go on the weekend to check it out. Good to have something closer to NYC.

Poker doesn’t open until 3/1 (last I knew). That being said I should be driving by this weekend so may stop in quickly.

I'll be going to check it out once the poker room opens to harvest a rack or two, but my expectations are low. Going to have 14-16 tables apparently.

But it seems like, from here, Parx is still a faster trip.

Kind of hate the chip set though... No cohesion at all, to me.

I like that $25 (y)
I liked it at first glance but what is that, avocado and black? I’d have to see stacks before being sure of my feelings for them.

I went back for a second visit recently... I can’t say I liked this room any better than my first visit.

There was a lot less action than when it first opened, though both times I was there on a Saturday. There still are no windows, and the overall feel is gloomy. The lighting is horrendous—at almost every table, the dealer is backlit and casts a heavy shadow on the board. They offer free liquor (though they’ve started limiting people who are obviously drunk), which I guess is good for the action, but nothing which I want to partake of... My 2/5 table was almost all regs, few fish, so we wound up just pushing chips back and forth mainly.

The main casino seems very busy, noisy, and much bigger than Rivers in Schenectady (the other casino within shooting distance of my place). But the 2nd Floor poker room feels like an afterthought.

I guess they are having their first “big” tournament in August, but from what I heard it’s relatively small (75K guarantee).

Also, as far as their chips, they feel really light for Paulsons. Not sure what the difference is from other casinos which use MD76-bs, but the lighter weight is palpable.

Has anyone been to the expanded poker room (moved to the main floor in August 2019)?

The prior room was abysmal: Cramped, windowless, and worst of all, terrible lighting. I’m thinking of a return visit, but curiously it seems impossible to find pics online of the new room.

Why go? Just go to Rivers Schenectady.

I went and had a good time. Room is nice, nothing special. Played $1/2, and while mostly regs, some fish, too. Ended up $70 up after a two hour session but could easily have been $300.

That said, main purpose of trip was taking kids to the water park down the street. I’m in NYC and would rather head to Parx for just a poker trip.
