Need some help IDing this color red. It’s the 36mm T5 non-WSOP Cincinnati chip. These are the only Paulson red chips that I own to compare. It seems like it is a match to the California chip but don’t know if there is a reference for current casino chips with colors. If anyone could help I’d appreciate it. Thanks!

Looks like Red.
Is this sarcasm, or you think it look like standard “red”. I don’t have a color sample, but it seems brighter/lighter than what I would imagine “red” to be. I’m getting labels made and would like to get close on color match.

Hey, it looks Red to me, but it could be Royal Red. That California Hotel chip was issued in 2008, long before Carnation was first available from GPI in 2014. So that's unlikely, even though the Horseshoe tournament chip was released in 2018. A little research goes a long way. You should be able to find the Nev GCB color listing for the California $1 chip online submission in 2008.

If @Gear is making your labels, simply let him know (or supply) the actual chip you wish to match. That's a much better (and safer) approach than trying to guess at color matching from online images.

Thanks Dave. You are a wealth of information (not sarcasm) and your answers typically look like this one. That’s why I couldn’t tell if your first answer was sarcasm or not (as an avid user of sarcasm, it would have been quite funny too). I appreciate the lead for the gaming commission, I knew there was something like that out there but couldn’t recall what it was called. Gear is making the labels but he wasn’t sure what color the T5 was by the picture. Off to google!

Looks Royal to me but sometimes the monitors can misrepresent a color. Royal has a little bit of an orange tint and is a little darker than Carnation which also has an orange tint to it.

He's already done that, that's why this thread is here :) I don't have a sample of these chips on-hand and we're trying to avoid the cost & time of mailing one back-and-forth.

I'm not sure which of the Paulson reds this is, but I know for certain it's NOT the basic Red. That color is much darker, more like the Empress $5 in the original pic.

It's almost certainly either Royal Red or Cherry.

I would love to be able to find these ... do you know where to look?

There is a historical pdf you can search. I am pretty sure these are royal red based on the following:

CALIFORNIA HOTEL AND CASINO 00/00/00 00/00/00 CHIP 1.00 RE-ORDER 9/17, LOGO PRIMARY RACK (WHITE W/ROYAL LAS VEGAS RED-INLAY IS BLUE W/FLOWERS)-ORIG EVT #191

Thanks @BGinGA for the lead!
