I'm not in the cool kids club so I don't know that another boat is setting sale, but at the same time, the sales of boat chips presently doesn't seem like one is. I think it's more likely general overall market conditions changing in and outside of chipping and people liquidating expensive luxury items and a few other people who are flush enough to purchase them. Combine those two together and it snowballs into more people seeing them bought at good prices and realizing they can sell theirs too, wash, rinse, repeat.

Also, WTB: sloth/bearclaws....

I just have to wonder how many individuals are left among us are willing to drop $10k - $20k on a set of chips, on a whim, and how that will affect the profitability of future NAGBs.
I’m sure there’s an unending supply of guys like me, who don’t mind paying hundreds into thousands for decent chips. But I wonder if the supply of people eager to drop $20+ per chip is drying up. It probably should? Because these chips are only worth what people are willing to pay, and I’m no mba but I think that means they’re not a safe investment in an uncertain economy.

TL;DR - next NAGB will be clearance prices!

I can only assume that there will be plenty of people – the ones who didn't get previous NAGB chips – willing to drop ridiculous amounts for any new, shiny NAGB chips. The trouble seems to be shifting them at the same prices they paid once they realise they could do with that initial money back instead.

This.

At a certain price point, supply > demand. And now everyone selling at same time…

And this.

There are only so many people that can afford $15+/chip for NAGB chips, or anything else really. Those that bought in at those prices are going to have a hard time moving their inventory. There will be more of a market if prices are more palatable in the $6-$8/chip range as opposed to $10+.

Hopefully BTP Tourney chips going for under $10/chip is the start of the swing of the pendulum.

I thought the prices for AS chips were insane and then they climbed to insane levels and I thought some of the old NAGB chips, ES chips or SB, were nose bleed and then I saw what some of the RPC chips started going for... eventually the market will top? or will chipping always have a greater fool?

Lol these threads.

People sell chips all the time, but what, every 6 months or so(random guess) one of these threads pop up.

Selling chips does not equal a NAGB.

Or maybe it does or maybe people want to see things that aren’t there

That's exactly the sort of thing someone who's involved in a NAGB would say...

I think people are forgetting how huge and blatant the pre-RPC sell off was. Tons of veteran members that were seemingly MIA for years were selling off huge completely mint 3000+ ct sets that were years old with the most hilarious excuses ever. But yeah, Krish and the two or three other whales that are selling en-mass need the money... or something.

That said, I'm sure a lot of the stuff posted above this does come into play.

I think a lot of different markets containing highly speculative prices that have only been going up up up these last few years will see a correction. Poker chips are no different.

On a personal note: lol at paying $15-20+/chip on fantasy chip sets. I understand that leaded THC chips from actual casinos that have historical and sentimental value fetch high prices, but why people throw tens of thousands of dollars at the chance of owning a NAGB set I will never understand.
