Food pics….

Being a smaller event, I was able to provide food all 3 nights and not break the bank. Big thanks to @slisk250 for helping fund the Mexican night on Thursday and to everyone who pitched in $20-40 - it was very, very appreciated! Also wanted to say thank you again to @PAZ for the Sinfully Cinnamon bread - it was a major hit as always in the morning and again post midnight. @H|Q was kind to grab us burgers late night (which is fast becoming a weird meetup tradition) and @Leonard actually turned me onto a new taco place when he grabbed breakfast tacos for us locally here Saturday AM.

Gambool….

Wednesday night was Talking Stick night. We started at a 4/8 O8 table that they opened for us (I guess being a semi-reg has benefits). We had 7 seats filled with Degens and known casino locals (KCLs) were cycling through the eighth seat. Their reactions were amazing…

Local thought bubble: “hey, I’ll sit here at 4/8, these guys are drunk, ordering each other drinks with the service light permanently on, and have no idea what they’re doing. This’ll be a gold mine”

Narrator: ….one hour later

Local thought bubble: “fuck these people, that one 3-bet with K862r and got there, the other one made an 87 low in two consecutive hands, and now they’re getting shots”

We switched the 8/16 Big O/Stud after a while. Was a lot of fun.

I played flop color gambooo with @H|Q. Red for him, black for me. 2 cards in our color on the flop and it’s $20. All one color (example - 3 black cards) and it’s $40. All one suit on the flop and it’s $100. We were tipping $4-10 a hand and dealers were loving it. Same with waitresses. Might’ve been the most popular table since the new tent opened a couple months ago.

Thursday was straight cash, homie. Typical circus fun, had 3 tables going (5/5/6) and it was great action on all 3.

Friday night featured the Scarney flipament. 16 people, $40 buyin, $640 to the winner (@Potsie1).

The side action on the Scarney tourney was amazing. Part craps with people barking bets at each other. Part 1980s NYSE trading floor with points and head nods indicating wager acceptance. I think I went +$100 on a total of maybe a dozen wagers.

Saturday was college football day. We all watched Alabama vs Tennessee as we finished up pre-main event BBQ. HDK had a grand on Alabama and lost to a last second field goal. Great sweat though.

…..except when he checked his phone to see the day’s damage, he noticed that he accidentally bet $1K on Tennessee.

Eruption ensues as he realized he won. We all got a good laugh out of that. Wish I had filmed it - it was amazing.

I really enjoy the new meetup thing where everyone brings a guest set to play with. So many awesome chipsets out there and it’s great to play with new ones.

In order…

- Wednesday night Talking Stick $2 chips at 8/16 OE
- Thursday Truman’s Paulsons for 25/50c and 1/1 cash
- Friday AM Arizona Club ASM cash set (@AlbinoDragon) for 25/50c 2 tables. Loved these chips, wanted to play with them for a long time. These were one of three sets that inspired me to get some of my Truman’s House chips
- Friday Tina Aria high denom tourney chips for SOHE championship (10K stack 16 runners)
- Saturday AM Armory / Calvary Club scrowns (thanks for bringing these @Psypher1000 - love love love the 25c and $25 in particular). Also thank you much for the VERY kind chip gift!!
- Saturday main event tourney mixed PCA/Empress chips - thanks @AlbinoDragon for bringing these. Everyone had a different favorite but they were all awesome. I couldn’t stop shuffling the $1K chips. The $500s were heavy as bricks and looked amazing. Awesome awesome set - worth every dollar and hour it took to build.
- OG Truman’s House ASMs for late night Saturday gamboool.

I got to play with everyone over the course of the week which was great. It’s harder to do that in a larger meetup and it was amazing catching up with my East Coast (and Ohio!) friends and having my now-local Arizonans to meet everyone as well.

Drinks….

I forgot how much this group can put back….and I took it relatively easy all week…

- Leonard ritas were fantastic as always - thanks for the recipe.

- Palomas (sp?) with Squirt might be my new go-to…thanks @Leonard !

- Roman fine-tuned the @detroitdad Old Fashioned recipe and if you like your bourbon drinks a bit on the sweeter side, @onerand makes some delicious beverages.

Thanks to everyone that brought beer including @MatB and @onerand with the Treehouse goodness - we got through a lot of them - at least 2 weeks worth of rd going :)

Sad that it’s over but also exhausted. Going to bed tonight before 10p for the first time in what has to be several years but so thankful that I got to see some friends that I haven’t seen in over a year now and that everything went smoothly. It’s impossible to pull these off just by yourself - everyone was incredibly helpful including @irishrampage (welcome to PCF bro) who helped me get food and other things organized.

Looking forward to the next one!!!

What an incredible meetup! It was my first time in close to a decade (out-of-context fans... go ahead and post this... you deserve it ) and I had forgotten how much fun these can be.

First and foremost, a million thanks to @bergs, The CLB and canine co-host Roscoe for organizing, arranging and running this the whole weekend. I've had a little insight into how much work and organizing a meetup takes so for that alone, words can't begin to describe the sheer amount of appreciation there is for arranging everything and making it all go off without a hitch (ignoring the soda explosion at the literal very last minute). Thank you, thank you, thank you and thank you again. This was a remarkable weekend and three-and-a-half days of decompression and degeneracy I've needed for quite a while now.

To old friends from way back whom I haven't seen in what feels like ages, @H|Q, @Leonard and Keith (sorry... I'm bad with names, let alone usernames). It's remarkable that friendships can carry over two separate forums and 15 years! It was fantastic to see you all again and truly hope it's nowhere near as long between visits. @H|Q, SCS III sounds like a brilliant idea! ;)

For the O.G. Mass. crew, especially @DarPodo , SilverSpoonMike, @onerand , I had a great time playing at your tables, cash and tournament. For all of our benefit, I'm thankful you made the trip here for the meetup. It's fantastic to get to meet parts of @bergs original crew. I can see why you were part of that group and it's amazing you made the time and effort to make the trip here. I truly hope to get to see you all in person again.

@slisk250 , @Potsie1, thanks for the great table talks, both at and away from the table. It's always great seeing you!

@PAZ bread is amazing. 'nuf said. Mind absolutely blown on that. If you know, you know and if you don't you're missing out.

HDK, infinite thanks for dealing the final table at the main event. If I hadn't still been in it to the gory end, I had volunteered to do that mostly thankless job. Super well done and managed. Nobody would have caught the three flushes on a three-flush tabled hands fouled deck. Great catch that something wasn't 100% kosher there.

Oh, and that main event....

ZoomScreen.jpg

Guess what's now in the background on all my Zoom calls for the foreseeable future. :whistling:

I was down well below average stack when the final table started. A few helpful hands on what was a mostly card-dead second half of my tournament helped me gain some momentum to finish much better than I really should have.

Massive apologies to anyone I forgot or have @'ed incorrectly. My memory for names to faces has always been poor, but add usernames and freely flowing Leonard-margaritas, and all bets are off.

Once again, a huge thanks to @bergs and the CLB for hosting, letting nearly twenty crazy degens invade their beautiful house. I hope we didn't upset the neighbors too much. I had an absolute ball and am already looking forward to RIA II and the mini-meets between now and then.

There have been many questions asked, so I want to clarify some of those right now. First, I'm a degenerate gambler. I splash pots, for the principal of splashing pots. The girls call me mcsplashy. @MatB pretends to be a splasher, but once he gets his feet wet, he folds like a cheap piece of ikea furniture. In all seriousness, good games @bergs. I remember the first cash game you had at your house, when you were maybe 40% sure we were going to have a full table, and playing online for random deposits before black Friday. Fantastic set up and games, and a giant fuck you to Keith if you can get this forum to load in whatever Best Buy parking lot you are stealing wi-fi from.

I think at that point I was into that game for 1800, and I'm pretty sure that pot was only 7.50

I was having a Vagina moment, when I opened the conversation by saying "I'm being a giant vagina"

And you didn't talk anyone out of shit, it was Roman, you have the negotiation skills of a mute with the face for someone destined for radio. To talk me out of that game, you would of had to remove some of the chips and put them into the middle of a table, known as the "pot"

For the love of god, I've been on this forums listening to you lunatics for 5 years, how the hell am I a "new member"

This sounds eerily familiar to a conversation between @MatB and @Goldfish at DiD … can we all just agree that Matt is a total nit? Yet somehow people give him action, which I don’t understand.

What @MatB a nit!?!?! I don’t believe it! Can’t be. No way. Guy plays every hand, max pressure, making moves, raising and RE-raising…….. and then he a wakes up in a cold sweat, relieved that it was only a dream.

I don’t know what a “shit reg” is but I am usually the one with 95os. I doubt u have ever played that hand for any amount of money.

@bergs and The CLB, thank you very much for opening your lovely home to all of us. It was great to finally meet @AlbinoDragon @HDK @iBetOnEverything, Keith, Podo, and a few others. Nice to see old friends too. Hail to @PAZ and “God’s bread”

One of the highlights was watching to side action on the scarney flipament. Easily 5K bet in 30 minutes of flips. HDK is truly a degen.

Lot to unpack in the post event posts. Awesome time, @bergs thanks for hosting an awesome event. Great seeing the east coast group, and meeting new degens on the west coast. Now the detox begins.

Late to the "thank you" party, but just dropped by to say I had a great time. @bergs throws the best poker game I've ever attended, and CLB is a certified saint. Thanks also for making sure I was taken care of, beverage-wise, definitely appreciate that.

Thanks also to @JoseRijo for rooming with me and sharing Ubers. Been a long time since I've played with you guys in person (five years I think?) and it was great to reconnect with those I knew and get to know those I didn't.

Lockdown implies that there are times when he is actually opened up……. I believe the appropriate politically correct term is “conservative player.” I looked up that term in the dictionary:

The dictionary defines a conservative or cautious player as a @MatB. The definition goes on to state that, at a poker table, a "@MatB" is somebody who doesn't like to take chances and "step out of line". A @MatB will generally play ABC poker - playing strong hands aggressively and not looking to make many bluffs or unusual plays.

The problem with somebody who is a "@MatB" and DOESN'T change up their game is that good players will quickly identify them. If you are a @MatB who only plays strong starting hands, a good player will quickly adjust and quickly fold whenever a @MatB starts to take an aggressive line. This means that the @MatB will not get paid off on their strong starting hands, at least against good players.
Well I guess based on the meetup results from Dallas he wasnt playing against good players because he kept getting paid off.

Don’t be too hard on Goldy, if I was rebuying for the minimum and people were folding to my preflop all ins, I’d be upset too.

Now that I know @MatB is what we call a Broadway show (aka fake action player that talks a good game, aka nit, aka bed bug), I will adjust my game accordingly. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice ……

I am flattered to think that me folding more than 2 hands in a row could somehow affect you being stuck 7000bbs. I just wish I had such powers.
You honor me too much. I am humbled by this.

I just made a donation to the Short Stack Foundation of America, In your name.

I hope this was appropriate.
