Hi All,

I have been away from the chip world for several years and I'm looking to sell some of my BCC customs I'm not using. I was looking over the forum and noticed that there have been a few raffles for chips. It appears they have been a success and this is what I'm leaning towards doing. Do you guys give the raffle method a thumbs up or down?

Thanks,
Chuck

Seems like it isn't a sellers market these days, for a few reasons. So lots of great sets are going unsold. But this group of degenerates will always gamble for chips, if the price is right.
I'd try selling first, because a raffle seems like a pain in the butt, comparatively.

It depends on the amount per ticket and how many slots will be available. Some of the raffles for $30 or more per slot generally take a while to fill unless they are highly sought after chips. It really depends on how much you are trying to get. Customs may be good to sell outright but depends on the theme.

Hi, Chuck -- welcome!

Are these more Blue Ridges? The set you sold me back when on CT is still intact, and possibly looking to get larger.

Holy crap! Blue Ridge Poker Room?????????? You sold (and are selling) Blue Ridge Poker Rooms????? The $25 is absolutely the nuts! Your samples are still up on my wall!

Oh, and good to hear from you...welcome to PCF!

The small band of tourney set escapees -- used once. One of my very favorite sets, even though we don't live in VA any more.

So many beautiful chips. Apart from the T15K+ tourney set, I picked up a cash sample set, I guess from Chuck's first generation -- love the cash $20 and the grey $100 (which somehow didn't get pulled from the rack and placed into this picture, sorry). And somewhere I picked up that single solitary 25K ... sigh.

I have about 1600 chips I'm looking to sell. I will probably divide it into 3 different sets. I have about 350 of the V1 Tourney chips for a small set. Then I have about 900 of the V2 Tourney chips for a set, and I have about 350 cash game chips for a set. I'm thinking of offering each set for a straight sale first for those that might be looking to increase their current sets or for people who just want a set, then if they don't sell I'll do a raffle, maybe $10 per ticket???

Chuck!!! Wassup?

Marsha! Hope all is well, I was going to email you about this and get your thoughts.

Glad to see you here chuck :)

Hey Josh! I hope all is well with you and you are continuing to get better.

Yes these are the same chips.

Thanks Jeff!

This was one of the first sample sets I got. Love the purple of the T500... Plum maybe?

Yes, the T500 is plum.

That's a very nice set. Is it just me, or are there a lot of V Tech colors in there?

Ahh, a classic custom set from days gone by. (y)

IMO, I would list them as a straight sale to start with. Nice custom set like these shouldn't have any problems selling outright if priced right. Granted the market is a little depressed right now with the glut of large amounts of closed casino sets (Horseshoe's Cleveland & Cincinnati) & GB's that have flooded the market over the past 6-12 months. Larger sets with bigger price tags aren't moving as fast as folks aren't willing to drop the larger sums of cash.

Without risking sounding like a hypocrite (cause I've won a few raffles in the past around here :sneaky:) raffles can be kind of a pita/messy for the seller. If you're willing to deal with the logistic of collecting a bunch of small payments from a bunch of different people and running it, they are popular now days since this place is full of degen gamblers who love to take a chance on winning a nice set with only a small investment. I'm sure if you did a raffle I'd be in on it. ;)

GLWS!
