I've been looking over my collection of chips from when I was in Vegas in 2010, and am trying to work out what sort of chips I'm looking at. I've got a few questions for those more experienced.

1. My preferred chip from what I have is the Stratosphere $1, which I think is a THC SCV (Top Hat & Cane, Short Cane Version). Is this correct?

2- The Luxor/Planet Hollywood, and MGM Grand / Ceasars / Bellagio $1's are a different mold which I assume are also Paulson's. Do they have a name, or are they specific to those casino's? The three blue 1's seem very similiar with the exception of the name of the casino molded into the chip.

3- Is there are name for the mold of the Sahara and Circus Circus 1's - with the small ?stars? molded into the periphery of the chip?

Thanks for the help.

Correct, the Strat chip is THC/SCV.

The chips in the next two pics are Paulsons, produced on house molds made specifically for those casinos

The two chips in the last pic were made by Blue Chip Co. (BCC) using their sun mold.

Awesome, I know the name of my (current) favourite Paulson!

Another question, if I may.

Do the starbursts and ‘roulettes’ weigh and stack about the same as the THC/RHC?

Really what I’m asking is, can I make a functional mixed set out of these different molds (separate denominations obviously). Are there some that are so different they don’t combine well?

Some people don't like to "mix molds", but I've seen some nice "House Molds" sets using different molds.

Starbursts have frequently been used as fracs in Paulson sets. Both as-is, and with the milling/relabel process.

If you are asking if they will play fine, then the answer is yes. If you are asking if it will be perfect... that's a constantly changing target.

I like the idea of starbursts as fracs.

Ok, I'm slowly forming an image of what I want my first (real) set to be. Just another 40-50 samples and I'll make my mind up!

Generally speaking, yes, the Starbursts and generic roulette chips should weight about the same as other Paulson clay chips, whether THC or RHC, as long as they are in similar condition. Because they are non-denominated chips, you can declare them to be whatever value you need on game night, i.e. quarters, dimes, or nickels depending on your stakes. Use more than one colour if you need more than one frac value.
