Questionable dealing at Las Vegas Red Rock Casino? (3 Viewers)

I find limit confusing, I would have been asking as well. Just do both. Let the cards speak for themselves, announce the hand, and those cards don’t leave your kung fu grip until you’re satisfied that you lost.
It really couldn't be any simpler. There are only 2 possible bet or raise amounts per bet and they are defined by the limit you are playing. Preeflop and flop can only be bet and raised the amount of the small bet.....Turn and river all bets and raises are the amount of the big bet

That said I am assuming OP is confused because he should not have been able to raise when he had been checked into. He would have had to bet the small bet on the flop.

so I can’t just shove whenever I want? :0

I felt similarly on a double-points day at South Point. I was there early for the chip show and sat down at 2/4 to kill some time. Didn't know it was double points day and I sat down at a table of geriatric locals who were there to rack up the points towards their monthly free roll. Almost no action was present so I started playing pretty aggressively at which point the attitude of the table turned sour (the dealer even announced after the second hand where I was raising as much as I could, "Oh, they're not going to like that...") and the players, in order around the table, would start reraising everything to the max. I thought for sure I was going to take a cane to the ear before I got out of there.
They deserve it. It makes me happy inside when I play small stakes limit to kill time and get the stink eye from the regs because I actually play better than they do.

Given the variables (different dealers, different players, different games), I'd venture to say this is a mere coincidence, but a learning experience none the less. You can chalk it up to a learning experience and move along. I'd suggest always verbalizing your hand. Whether you're right or wrong, win or lose, it at least makes everyone pay attention.

Just adding my 2 cents to the bucket of change.

I've played quite a bit of 2/4 Limit in Vegas and none of this is adding up. I suppose the bet sizing info provided by the dealer would make a little sense if it were a Kill pot, otherwise it definitely is not standard Vegas 2/4 Limit. 2->4->6->8 pre and flop. 4->8->12->16+ turn and river.

Both the dealer errors sound pretty egregious. I would have demanded a floor on the first hand - you tabled a hand that deserved a portion of the pot. Cameras easily would have fixed that. And if they didn't, I wouldn't stick around long enough to see another mistake at that casino.

But thanks for the heads up, I'll stick with my regular spots! (if you are looking for a good inbetween for 2/4L and 1/2NL, Sam's Town has been running a .50/$1NL that attracts some very fishy players, including myself)

I've no idea how you kept your cool and didnt announce your straight. I'd have been off my rocker... but then again these things happen so quickly and once the dealer turns the cards it's all erased I guess

Erased? Hardly.

There are often multiple cameras covering each table in Vegas poker rooms. I would've called the floor as soon as the chips were pushed to the wrong player. The eye in the sky can usually review/correct this kind of mistake.

But as previously stated, it's best to just announce your hand when turning over your cards, as it helps avoid confusion. 1) verbally announcing your hand at showdown forces the dealer to check your hand to see that it is in fact what you say it is, and 2) provides a pause/opportunity to correct other potential errors.

Pretty well sums up this post
In that case I'll take that beautiful limit set you have.....$1 per chip sounds fair...I mean after all it's just a limit set. :D

Terrible chips. I mean, zero edge spot progression...

I'll tell you both what. Just send them to me and I'll make sure to dispose of them properly. :D
