Looking to add the New members start here thread.

I'm looking for a progression of chips such as

Dice
Royal poker chips
Ceramics
Paulson - CPC
TRKs! ;)

With a ballpark cost per chip range ... Anyone know of any posts or wanna start a list for me?

I think the categories are a little too specific.
Low end plastics 0.05-0.15
Mid end plastic 0.35-0.45
Stock ceramic 0.50-0.75
Custom ceramic 0.30-1.00
Vintage clay 0.25-0.50+
High end plastic 0.75-2.50+
Stock/fantasy clay 2.00-4.00+
Casino clay 2.00-8.00 and up up up
Custom clay 3.00+ depending on complexity

Let's not overlook casino ceramics, casino high-end plastics, and the very top of the heap: elegant 16-18 gram solid brass chips.

I'm guessing that list is ordered specifically by current PCF and eBay prices. But value can differ greatly from cost. I know that for some (many?), including myself, any casino chips are prized much more highly than anyone's custom chips in that same material category.

Yeah, and I wouldn't bother with a mid-range plastics category. You have precision high end plastics and then you have all other plastics. At least in my mind.

Big leap down from high end plastics to everything else plastic, I agree. But I would still categorize china clays one level above all of the metal sluggos.

So the target was to give a generic overview cost / material break down for new members. If they are in the market for solid brass chips, I doubt they'd be slumming it with us

Right. But those aren't plastics. Even though they're plastic. Ha!

This is what gets us into the weeds, I'm looking to get info to new members but this deep dives too fast to give them an over view or ball park, now we have to explain wait times, wear, and stolen-ish designs.

I’m just talking about the stock chips at Apache. Aren’t those the mid end plastics 0.35-0.45?

Going off of @allforcharity's list. Perhaps some examples?

Low end plastics 0.05-0.15
(interlocking, dice, Bicycle, Monte Carlo, etc)

Mid end plastic 0.35-0.45
(Milano, Dunes China Clay, Claysmith, Majestic, Royal, etc)

Stock ceramic 0.50-0.75
(Nevada Jack, Tiki King, Dia De Los Muertos, Prestige, etc)

Custom ceramic 0.30-1.00
(Chipco, ABC, Alibaba, Sun-Fly, etc)

Vintage clay 0.25-0.50+ (not sure)

High end plastic 0.75-2.50+
(Bud Jones, B&G, Abbiati, Matsui, etc)

Stock/fantasy clay 2.00-4.00+
(WTH&C, NPS, Avalon, Paulson Pharaoh, BCC Martini Club, etc)

Casino clay 2.00-8.00 and up up up
(Paulson, TRK, BCC, etc)

Custom clay 3.00+ depending on complexity
(CPC, ASM, etc)

Mid end plastic 0.35-0.45
(Milano, Dunes China Clay, Claysmith, Majestic, Royal, etc)

Casino clay 2.00-8.00 and up up up
(Paulson, TRK, BCC, etc)

I dunno if "Mid end plastic" would confuse newbies because so much out there is still advertised as "clay", and the China clays strive to mimic real clay more than dice chips and other cheaper plastic chips. Maybe Mid end "clay" or "China clay" plastic if that's not too confusing.

A $2 floor price for casino clay seems too high. People are definitely able to get roulettes or Jacks or HS Cinci used casino clay chips for $1/chip (or even less if lucky). We want newbies to realize it's still possible to get casino chips without paying $2+ per chip.
