Not until being a member here have I ever realized casinos had alternate chips designs (besides special edition chips). Can someone elaborate on how primaries and secondaries are used by the casinos? Also, why not just continue using the same design and why LCV/SCV come about? Surely, the casino and the manufactures could reproduce the original chip design, I would think. Are secondaries and primaries ever in play at the same time?

It's avoided. They're only "pure" after a compromise if they've never (or rarely) been used. It's also a lot of work and confusion.

There are also simpler measures. For example, after a purple-snatcher hit the tables at the Trump Plaza, the move was to run the purple off of every table in the house. For the next few weeks, nobody from the tables to the cages with purples... so the few who showed up with purples at the cage, or even asking for change on the tables, were looked at closely. And compared to video footage. Until someone was arrested. Then the purples came back - secondaries never came into play.

Some of the cheap ass casinos have put the secondary rack in play rather than order more primaries. Casino Aztar comes to mind. So in this case the secondary $5s were in play with the rest of the primary set.

Empress Casino (Joliet) and Casino Aztar (Evansville) also had multiple chips from both primary and secondary sets in play.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Aztar Evansfield swap to secondaries because of counterfeit $100s and not because they were cheap asses?

your aztar 5's look so nice, compared to mine. Too bad they are slippery.

Regarding SCV and LCV. This is likely a subtle manufacturing variation in the mold and not something a customer would specify. As opposed to H&C and RHC.

Not my PIC but the secondaries were in better shape overall than the primaries. I use my set as a travel set.
