Price of Paulsons Skyrocketing! (1 Viewer)

Good point...that is very true. There really isn't a good return on investment (if any) with customs. And if you can find the Paulson set you want and can afford it, you are most likely going to be able to "rent" it until you sell the set in the future.

i have not gone the custom route, almost got there with 1,116 original ASM A molds that had the labels removed and had some labels being designed then a few events happened and i sold off all the A molds to BGINGA ...a while back.

i have a few casino sets that i purchased over the years for home games, that is what started my chip addiction, then the CPC group buy came along and i grabbed a bunch of those which work perfect for beer drinkin poker nites......my casino sets are sitting idle, and it seems i cant stop from adding a few here and there

but there may be a sale in the future.

Maybe we need a few casinos with really cool looking chips to go belly up. Then their chips will flood the market and with an increased supply of Paulson's, we can all get a few thousand each at a good price. :)

Old post but just read it.....nice call Nostradamus. Has there ever been a Casino Chip Buy with better looking chips, not to mention 9 denominations each of primary and secondary, as the Cleveland's. Not sure that will drive the price of anything down though. People seem to be keeping what they bought.

i would like to take credit for good looking custom chips but i dont recall owning any "sample and custom HS"......but ok

is there another luckbox lurking in the shadows?

Hmmm...I could be mistaking (have to check with Fabian next time I'm there)

Prices have definitely dropped. It's probably temporary, but there's no doubt that chips are selling for less now than they were before the horeshoe cleveland sales.

By how much? examples?

Im curious about the price for $1000 chips from other sets like Grand Vics or PCA given the prices for HS chips? I don't recall many of these fetching 20-30 each, but I wasn't really paying attention. Most people who chimed in on Pricing the Ritz chips recently did not have them as high as HS chips.

GV Primary $1000 chips seemed to max out (within the last year) at $15 each. I've seen them sell recently in the $12-$14 range.

I think we could search through the classifieds and find specific examples, but that would take a lot of work. So call it my opinion. But I think chip prices have been trending downward.

I think that's sorta apples and oranges comparison, to some degree.

The Grand Vic 43mm $1000 chips aren't particularly pretty (imo, obv), but compared to other popular casino $1000s, they are sorta drab. The fact that they have sold for over $12/chip at all is more a function of scarcity than demand. Same for the Casablanca oversize $1000 -- not very many are available, which drove up prices.

The Empress $1000s are 39mm THC chips (blaze orange, too!) and they seem to command pretty high prices despite relatively large numbers - but I don't think you can compare their costs directly to oversize 43mm casino chips. The mere fact that the Horseshoes are oversize chips will dictate higher prices; add in their decent color/spot combos and you have a high-demand/high-priced chip.

There are no $1000 chips in the PCA lineup, but the blaze orange 39mm $500 chips have remained on par with $1000 chip prices of most other sets.

Some good points. I totally forgot the PCA chip was a $500

its probably apples to oranges when looking at the chips individually but I was thinking more from a building a tournament set perspective.

Read your screen name. All you need to know about ANY market. If well educated in economics, BUY and SELL at will sir! BTW, if you have any mint secondary PCA $500's, I will buy all of them at those "downward trending" prices you mentioned! Thanks!

Straight poker supplies is selling the WTHC for $3/chip (including shipping) on eBay.. $3.25 each for the $500 and $1ks... and people are buying them.
Ahhhhh, the good old days when $3 was considered extortionate.

Looking at them retrospectively, so many brilliant quotes in this thread.
