Nonsense.
Truly, I would.

You, apparently not. You see an experienced player because he caps his cards with an object, but cannot get the same read from the player that caps his cards with his hands. I respect your ability to get better reads than I.

Usually, when someone informs me about a particular read, I take it to heart. For example: The sunglasses-hoodie-earbuds kid will play more aggressive than the 65 year old man with a cup of coffee that the dealer welcomes by name. I understand the psychology involved. I also know it's not fool-proof, but it's a good start.

I'm truly trying to understand how capping cards with fingers is giving less information away.

Please, start a thread on the topic. From the looks of it, you are the sole person that has this edge, and I (for one) would love to understand more. I do order a lot of drinks while playing long sessions (and occasionally food back in the pre-COVID days), and have always capped my cards to protect them (especially in the #1 or #10 seat). If it is better to leave the cards unprotected when turning to grab my drink from a side table or while tipping/chatting with the waitress, I would like to plug that leak.

I make sure I grab my car keys before I leave the house is pretty much it.
10 hrs at the table is like 1/2 hour real time.
It’s over before you even cracked open your chocolate covered caffeine power bar.

Before u sit down, buy a bottle of beer - preferably a corona because it’s clear and put ur chips in ur pocket. Pour 3/4 of the beer out in the bathroom. When they call u to the table, walk up, ask how much the buy in is, guzzle the remaining beer, pull the chips out of ur pocket laying the min buy in on the table in a disorganized fashion. In the first hand just shove all in. Then rebuy for the max amount. U have now set the stage for maximum profitability. Everyone will pay u off. Go get ‘em.
What do I do the second time I go to the same casino?

But If you use a chip to cap your cards, doesn't that also convey the player is not inexperienced?

I'm struggling to see the difference between using my keys or a tube of Chapstick as a capper, and using a chip from my stack to protect my cards. I'm all about not giving free information, but I also don't want a dull dealer to sweep my live cards. What is the solution?
I put my cards under the tires of my 1993 Volkswagen Passat convertible.

Just kidding, that’s not practical at all.

I live in AZ now so I usually use a machine gun as a card capper. I fit right in.

Assuming you are travelling to a casino outside of your area:

Pack healthy power snacks in sandwich bags that are easily accessible for you to snack from. I prefer to go for a walk and stretch my legs instead of eating at the table, unless the casino permits it.

Familiarize yourself with the layout of the casino, rest rooms, places to eat, tourney schedule, (if that is your thing), entrances, parking areas, etc. before sitting down at the table.

I generally carry a roll of of 4 or 5 buy-ins, double if I plan on playing multiple days. Having the extra cash relaxes me.

Phones are a distraction. I leave mine in the hotel room.

Stay hydrated and bring a pull-over, better warm than cold.

Break up the day into two four and a half hour sessions to feed your body and disengage your mind.

Order this capper through Amazon (It stands out like a sore thumb):

Make sure to loudly announce how you folded the winning hand whenever someone wins a big pot.

Tank for at least 30 seconds once every orbit before mucking your cards, telling your opponent afterwards that he wouldn't believe what you folded.

Win pots.

I bring two of these things called hands, which each have five appendages. I keep one thumb or a couple fingertips on my cards. Probably a tell
I hold my cards the same way and don’t let them go till the hand is over. And since I never have the nuts, I never have a relief shaky hand tell, so it works for me.

Show up to the table double fisted……
Cut the 5th time Goldy enters his local casino….

Camera looks over Goldy’s shoulder from the back and shows a security guard walking briskly towards him.

“Sir, you can’t bring that in here” says the security guard.

“I just wanna play teh pokerz” stammers hammered Goldy, as the camera pans down….

To reveal that he’s pushing an entire half barrel of Budweiser with a tap.

Fade to black as Goldy starts to yell about slow service at the 2/4 limit holdem table.
