Hi!

I am new to the poker chip world. I was wondering if it is possible to put a custom label on a hot stamped chip or it absolutely needs to be plain?

If possible, what needs to be considered? thickness of the label, type of material, etc, etc

Thank you!

Usually not recommended unless the hot stamped is very worn. Otherwise, you’ll be able to see bumps and ridges from the underlying hot stamp.

Gotta Mill them, like below....

I'm assuming we're talking about Paulson THCs.

If you have a very worn hot stamp so that the recess area is essentially flat, then it may be possible to place an unlaminated sticker directly over the hot stamp without any problems. The chip cannot be so worn down that most of the recess is lost, otherwise you will create spinners.

Any type of laminated aftermarket sticker requires milling out the hot stamp first (regardless of initial chip condition) due to increased thickness (and, therefore, need for a deeper recess).
