Wanted to create a thread/poll about what people are most looking forward to in a “post” corona world where we can do all the things we used to be able to (albeit maybe with some minor alterations).

Feel free to also discuss anything else you’re looking forward to. I purposely didn’t write anything to vague like “see friends/family” since I’d assume (hope! :D) everyone would pick those.

Added a “work” option. Should have worded it better but basically I mean for those people who have an altered work routine such as WFH - to return to a normal work routine.

I’m missing hockey. In every way. Both of my boys respective teams were dominating their leagues. My one son, who we put into goalie school and reaped everything he could, was just awesome to watch. My other son, plays Center and was having a phenomenal year. So good we had been approached by upper-tier coaches about his speed and grit.
then COVID hit. The season ended. The summer 4on4 over. A special season where we were granted special permission to have both of our boys play in the same group. Just done.
And lastly, the NHL playoffs. My #1 Blackhawks weren’t going to make it. But for once in frickin ages, my local Leafs might be a second rounder. We weren’t winning the cup...never will with Nylander in the lineup....
But all gone.
the biggest reminder, hundred of fucking puck marks and dents in my garage door...:banghead:

What about getting a break from family? I love them but after 5 weeks of lockdown with a 8 & 4 y/o I'm ready for a break doing anything. Oh, and home game poker.
Great point but I think everyone would pick that one too

Where is grandparents take the kids for the day or sleepover? As mentioned already, 5 weeks of 4 kids with no real break is enough to dive my wife and I bonkers!

BASEBALL. That is the #1 thing that I miss most. Of course, I miss going out to eat, poker with friends, whatever. But I'm 100% addicted to baseball, checking box scores, thinking about tomorrow's match-ups, watching 2-3 games per day. Damn it, I miss baseball :(

Add on top of it the kids school teachers emailing saying we haven’t uploaded any of their school work when that was just changed. We were originally told none would have to be turned in (only K & 1st grades). My wife has been having them do lots of educational activities and trying to do as much of the school work as possible, but it is very difficult with twin 3 year olds that want to be involved in everything!

Unfortunately the school/teachers aren’t providing much support. No online classes, videos, anything. Just a huge packet to print out every Monday and a few emails of “encouragement”.

I said to my wife today that I miss regular interaction with random people the most. I'd give anything to pony up to the bar at my local brewery and shoot the shit with whoever was sitting next to me!!
Maybe Its the introvert in me lol but I can't think of anything worse than the prospect of talking to a stranger in a bar  :ROFLMAO:

Wow I was the first person to pick live concert/sports. My wife and I usually go to 10-15 concerts throughout the year. We live 5 min from Red Rocks so we see bands over there 5 times a year.

We also usually go to at least one Nuggets, Broncos and Rockies game too. Live sports is so much fun.

I also picked watching sports. I am a big fan of lots of different sports, from PGA, NBA, and smaller sports like PDGA. For years now, I’ve watched the entire Masters coverage and it was a bummer not having it yet.

Can I vote for...."turning on the news or reading the newspaper, and seeing ANYTHING other than COVID-19-related stuff"? I have completely stopped listening to the news. I'm tired of it. I miss "other" news!

I'm with you, except I miss trance raves, rather than seeing bands play  :ROFLMAO:

I picked televised sports because my Blues should be in the playoffs defending the Cup right now.

Although going back to the office is creeping higher on the list after trying to concentrate on a conference call today while my 9-year-old had a toddler-style meltdown in the background over her school art project where she had to write her name and then color it. Apparently this was the end of the fucking world and worthy of about 2 hours of crying and 20 minutes of actually working on it today. Ugh.

I chose sports, as it was my main escape. Waking up to read results, reading the latest news, fantasy football, catching some highlights before bed.

Holy. Crap. That’s a ton of baseball. Looking forward to the start to the year, but still can’t get rid of the pit in my stomach (Dodgers) from the whole debacle.

As petty as it sounds I am really bummed snowboarding ended first part of March. The cascades got a ton of snow in March, 3’ in one week alone, with blue bird days in between all the refills. Steven’s Pass would have just had their spring fest yesterday and I would have closed out the year with a parking lot bbq, slushie snow, and a pond skim. Plus a late spring emergency trip to Whistler or Hood was being bandied about. :(

That hurts. Lol

Stay healthy everybody.

Downside:
Coaching and assisting coaching my boys in baseball is the biggie for me. My oldest will be missing his final (senior) year of HS ball and American Legion ball, and my youngest is missing out on his first year of junior high baseball. I've coached them since T-ball and this sucks.

Upside:
We can have Friday movie-at-home nights a few times a week now. lol

Choice #1 was easy for me and it was "Work." I work in Outside Sales/Key Account Management and most of my time is spent externally in client-facing meetings. Since March 16th I've been relegated to 99% home office and, while I still have projects to work on, it's been a struggle at points. I count myself as fortunate however that I've been able to continue working, while many others have not, but I do very much look forward to being able to resume some form of normality in my day-to-day work life.

Choice #2 was more difficult but in the end I went with "Sports" vs. "Vacation/Outside Activities." Mainly because here we are still allowed outside and I've been able to continue riding my bicycle outside (solo), which has helped a great deal with my mental stability! I am however a big fan of professional cycling, NHL and NBA and certainly miss being able to watch games on tv, especially since it would be playoff time now and my hometown team (Edmonton Oilers) would be in the mix this year.

I voted international travel. I’d kill to be locked down with my sons for a couple months instead of this.
Damn it Slisk!! Been thinking of you brother, fingers crossed you can get back here at some point man... many people feel terribly trapped here, but IMHO stuck in the desert away for your family, serious quarantine rules... the whole situation with your sons graduation! Unfortunately I have actually told that story to a few people to help them feel better! It totally sucks!! Again man if the is ever anything Brie and I can do to help short of stealing a cocaine smuggling plane over there to get ya!! Lol let us know buddy!
Your chippin buddy Ben

Definitely sports. Between the NCAA basketball tourney, NHL season end and playoffs (my flyers were going to make a run this year), The Masters, Baseball's opening day, NFL Draft, etc. the late March through early May is such an awesome part of the sports calendar. I really do miss it. I should be about halfway through our league games coaching my son's 2028 lacrosse team. We would probably at least have a relatively consistent clear in place by this point and MAY have some idea what to do on the man up/man down. Actually, I miss that the most, the coaching.

I miss my home game too.

I’m a 20-30 concert a year guy. I’ve currently got 4 sets of tickets that don’t appear like I will be able to use. Only reason it is 4 is I haven’t purchased any in the 6-7 weeks we’ve been shut down.

I know. I just have baseball on the television at all times, after I get home from work. I don't actually sit there and watch, I multi-task :)

Hanging around outside with friends, drinking beer
Live poker
Live theater

Just walking by a stranger at the grocery store without having to look at each other without that “are you a murderous zombie? I’m not, and I don’t think you are, but just in case...” feeling would be nice.
