My home game of 7-9 players has played on essentially this table at my house for years or on a dining room table at the homes of other hosts.

I'm looking to buy a basic table upgrade online with speed felt and for a table that actually has some padding under the felt.... Plus, my cupholders are plastic, broken, shallow and embarrassing. I need it to still have folding legs and no dealer position. I'd like to have a betting line and probably not a racetrack because I fear my players would keep pulling the cards to the racetrack and not be able to pick them back up again. Plus, racetracks are lower end tables tend to be cheap and fit poorly together with the felt. We've managed on the 82'' but prefer something a little bigger. 96'' is probably getting too big for the spare bedroom where we mostly play.

I've looked at numerous places and on eBay. BBO said they would build a modified UPT table that doesn't include the racetrack, but that it would be $50 more for the added work.

So, $650 at BBO. I don't want to spend more than that.

Anyone else have any other comparable options?

Thank you!

A table without a racetrack is MORE work? ok, build your own damn table fo sho! :) I followed some online instructions and it was easy. Seriously, could have a VERY nice table for $350 (nice materials), and a day's work.

Contact Chanman.

FL and Western Ca are opposite ends of the earth, and Tony has said a table costs around $350 to ship to the US, and I'm guessing that wouldn't leave too much in the budget for a table worth playing on.

But he might be a good resource on how to build... But it might be more appropriate to just find some well thought out instructions online?

Craigslist for you then! :)

Loads of decent deals. Seems like they sell pretty cheaply there.

Post some pictures of the table you have, especially from underneath. We might be able to walk you through a nice upgrade of your existing table. You'd need some scissors and a stapler at least though.

Anybody in FL or GA have table building experience?

I've tried Craigslist for months along the FL panhandle and there's nothing worth even driving to check out. :(

Here's the current table.... There's absolutely no padding under that felt. It's best use as of late has just been holding up the shoes.

The base and legs look decent, but if you wanted to add foam and speed cloth I think you'd have to replace the rail.

Who did the Hitching Post tables for @Mr Tree? Atlanta isn't too far from the panhandle.

Shipping depends on size and weight. My mention of $350 to ship to US was based on an oversized octagon table with a pedestal. I've shipped tables around the US for $200 ish before. Feel free to email me if you want to see if I can get something to you within your budget. I have a July special right now where you can upgrade to a custom cloth for half price, tonyc@chanmanpokertables.com.

Nice shoes by the way ;)

Build your own, or see if somebody on PCF with table-building experience that lives in Florida would be willing to build you one.

Agree with trihonda that you can build a very nice table for $350 or less, and it really isn't that hard. Minimum tools needed for a budget job would be a jigsaw, sander, drill/driver, and stapler (about $100 total).

If you are striking out on craigslist, try a WTB ad here on PCF -- for either an existing table in the FL area, or a table-build by somebody relatively nearby.

Btw, your existing table is not worth upgrading. I've done a couple of upgrades on those (for other people), and you are better off starting from scratch -- you'll get a much better product for not much more work and just a few more dollars.

There are also some decent budget tables on eBay that you can get shipped for under $500. Here's one:

Thank you for all the advice, BG.

I had been watching that table and seller to try to find any feedback or reviews on their tables... I guess the last table I bought on eBay had to be sent back because it had absolutely no padding under the felt and the cup holders could not even hold a 12 oz can, plus it was damaged and ripped from the poor packaging. I do have $56 eBay bucks to use by the end of the month. So we're looking at $450 shipped versus $650 from the next best option if I go that route.

@BGinGA
That is certainly a sweet looking table. I just don't get why people insist on using MDF.:mad: I mean, if you're the builder, you might be saving $20/table in material but if you advertise that you used high quality birch (or whatever) plywood then I bet more people would jump on these tables. I probably would at least.

As far as the OP goes. I have the same exact table with a few mods. Unfortunately there is nothing you can easily do to upgrade the felt or the rail. The table only cost $75 so I felt is was still worth it. I still don't have the money for a real table but I have used this table for the past 5 years.

Maybe that table that BG posted would be worth it if you can add a support piece of ply to the underside?

I know a guy in Lakeland FL, but that's quite a distance from you unfortunately. Definitely check Craigslist and also on eBay you can filter based on your zip code, so you may be able to find a local builder selling on eBay (that's how I found the guy who did my table).

Good luck!

hows the search going OP? Building? Buying?

Might I suggest a custom cloth from Chanman instead of speed cloth. His cloth is just as fast, if not faster than SSC and its way softer and overall much nicer

Sometimes BBO runs some great deals around the end of the year. They did a custom cloth on SSC for me that turned out great and was half the price of others. I think they make good quality products if you can't find a local builder, a resale in your area or take the plunge and build one.

I'm kinda in th same boat as the OP been looking at BBO and procaliber. Going to have some extra money n dr month and it's going towards d poker. Wanted and new chipset but need a table first

email both, BBO often has good deals on holidays, if you email their sales team with an inquiry they will offer some money off or free upgrades

i ordered from pro caliber, the owner, at the time responded to all my requests in a very timely fashion. Im very happy with my table. only thing I suggest if you choose pro caliber is to go with the casino with folding legs and do not have the dealer spot installed, it would be better for me if there was no dealer spot

Thanks for the tips that was the he table I was looking okish at.. Though I was thinking about a dealer spot as I've been trained as a casino poker dealer and would just deal and play.. You think it would be better without?

Heres what I wish I did, I wish I had the dealer spot with just the missing rail...with no chip tray..

that way you get the best of both worlds. you have have self dealt games where it makes no difference, or you can deal from your spot with no chips in your way.

When I play, i usually deal from the dealer location with no chips in the chip tray anyways.

it tends to be a huge pain.

Final suggestion: go with a dealer spot with missing rail but do not have the chip tray input, just have it all felt

As a former dealer, I have no trouble dealing, even when there's no dealer spot... but we usually only play 4-6 hours, and other like to take a lot of the deals.

So I could go either way on the low-rail dealer spot.

But I would absolutely not want a chip tray if dealing and playing! Keeping the bank right is sacrosanct, to me... the rack is too big for just my chips (sadly), and I don't want the bank in front of me if I also have chips to play.

agreed, dealer spot is ok, but no chip tray, it makes it very weird on where to put your chips. do you put them in the tray, in front of the tray, to the left, to the right?

imo this is the ideal solution especially if you commonly deal for your group or have someone dedicated to dealing
