Hey guys :)

First of all: Im a Poker Newbie.
Yea, I know the rules and played some games with my Friends (3-6 Players) but playing on a very small and hard table and with cheap Laser Chips is not that much fun.

In the last days Im obsessed with poker :>
Watching a lot of Videos about poker, Poker Chips (especially ones from Hobbyphilic, love them) and looking up Poker Chips i can buy in Germany. So my sleeping schedule is really messy rn

So we we need something new hehe. That means, a new table (one that works as a Dining table and for poker), new Chips and Accessoires.

For the table, a Poker Mat would be the best Option I guess. My Question is:
Should I just get a cheap Poker Mat on Amazon or are there some that u can recommend? Or is a selfmade mat (what May I Need beside Speedcloth?) the better and maybe even chaper option?

Thank you very much in advance!!!

TheDuque (my friends just Call me Duque nowadays...go ahead :))

I should add my budget lol...I would say about 50€ would be good for me :)

Hello good sir,
Always great to see new members from Germany on here!
Which city are you from?

I found that most mats on Amazon are pretty thin. I think many would agree that the mat should be at least 4mm thick, 5mm being the sweet spot.

50€ won't be enough for a high quality mat. If you can spend ~€100 you can get a 4mm mat with custom dimension and custom artwork from https://www.montapisdejeux.com/
Just contact them for a quote.
@BonScot and some others had a pleasant experience with them and their mats are awesome.

Welcome to the forum and let me know when you're in Cologne next time. All PCF chippers are welcome in the Lovejoy residence.

Neoprene toppers are nice. 2MM is not a lot of padding on a hard surface, but much better than a hard table. I use them on a kitchen and dining room table, but have a neoprene pad underneath (2-3MM). Cards slide nicely, but rarely too far. It's a padded surface. I use a neoprene pad directly on the table top. It hangs over slightly on all sides. Then I put the neoprene topper on top. It gives the appearance of a racetrack, but you have something that completely protects the table top, and 4MM makes a very nice playing surface.

You might look at Poker Hoody. Those are nice, but I was never able to get mine to cinch like it should. They are sized to cover the entire table. Without cinching, you need something underneath them to hold them. I found a rubberized carpet pad works extremely well and it didn't slide around. The Poker Hoody I have is not sticky on either side. Neoprene with a sticky surface on one side works well on a hard surface.

I had 2 of the PCF toppers. They were6MM toppers on top of 2-3MM pad. That's a really nice surface.

Toppers by themselves aren't going to cover most tables, and they don't hang over as well.

I'm sure you will get some comments about other possibilities than neoprene, but neoprene has worked for me for years.

Thank you all for ur help! Im back from Work and finally have some time to spend on here

@OfficerLovejoy
Im from Dortmund; so a trip to Cologne wouldnt be that long :)
I checked out the Link and will need to send a quote...i dont understand a lot (an english quote is fine?) some of the pre-made designs look great too :)

@Colquhoun
I actually know these but i did Not Love the colorway :/ do u know by any Chance, if they still have the orange Highlights?
And does anybody know how pricy shipping is? Auround 50€ or more? Sadly don’t have a US Address ;((

@TexRex
Thank you for this explanation! Looked up Poker Hoodie but Im not a Fan of the simple Design...will keep that in mind :)

I might expand the budget to 100€ because „buy smart or buy twice“...just have to consider that I decided to get my Chip Budget up to 150€ or about 0.40c per Chips.
Any Other shops u can recommend?

Thank you again <3

I have 3 neoprene pads from http://www.foamorder.com/neoprene/neoprene.html. They can cut to the length you want. I've looked at others, but they have limited sizes. It’s not as nice as a really nice poker tabletop, but it beats the hard surface felt (without good padding) by a lot! Since I’m limited to a dining room table and kitchen table, these are great options for me, and much cheaper than a nice poker table:

Notes:
  • I got the Nylon fabric, but I use mine as a table pad. I don’t play on that surface. I put a neoprene topper on top. You could easily play on top, but it is plain fabric without markings. I like the neoprene topper on top that has a betting line. That’s not critical, but it’s nice.
  • The edges have the nylon fabric that extend beyond the pad. I’ve never bothered cutting those to the pad size because I have them hanging off the table anyway. That only applies to the sides; the ends are pad. I found it is better to have it a little long and let it hang off the table than try to exactly size it.
  • All of mine are black, but they have a wide variety of colors. I like the black with a neoprene topper on top. I’ve used green, black, and red (but not the blue). I like the looks. Players typically keep their chips off the topper itself but some do keep their chips on the topper behind the betting line.
  • They are easy to clean. I spread them out on a driveway and hose them down. You can use mild soap if you like. I do that about every 3-4 years. I brush them after every use. Of course, I have a playing pad on top (a 35”x70”), but I wash them all at the same time.
  • The back easily sticks to a wood table without sliding around and without leaving any marks on the table.
  • I attached a strip of Velcro on the bottom along one end, and the other piece of Velcro on a 5 ft dowel rod. I attach the Velcro and roll it up and then put 3 Velcro strips around it to hold it together. It stands upright in a closet, takes very little room, and is easy to roll and unroll.
  • Cards slide well on it, but we don’t have a big problem with cards flying off the table. It does happen, but it’s rare. I don’t have rails, which is the real reason cards would fly off the table anyway.

Hello from Berlin, welcome to the forum.

Here's my super budget setup:
I use an oversized mouse pad. (Actually two stacked.) they create a betting area on my folding table. It's minimalist and works quite well: cards slide nicely, combined thickness is OK.

Got anything in sight on poker chips?
I got lucky in the classifieds and got a beautiful set of cards mold ceramics - highly recommended. It will run you around 50c per chip tho.

I wanted to start a similar thread as I'm also keen to buy a high-quality Table Topper (Mat or roll out) for poker blackjack and other card games, that I can put on top of my dining table (180 x 90 cm). In specific ones that can be purchased in the EU/Europe (I live in The Netherlands), or sent without too much shipping/custom/tax cost.

Having used the search function on this forum and other searches online more widely, I've found several topics (see below) discussing this topic one way or the other, including various types of material (Suited Speed Cloth), Gaming suede cloth / faux suede, Ultrasoft velveteen, Velt, Nylon velvet speed cloth). However preference now goes towards Neoprene.

OPTIONS?
Perhaps the below is also beneficial for you:

If I can slip in a question it would be, who could help with the artwork for a design of my choice and what are the approximately cost of that (ballpark).
