Best advice for a combo table? Usually play 6 handed for what it's worth

I have the exact same need, thanks for the post ars23 :p

My advice is to contact the member here @T_Chan. He is local to Vancouver Canada and builds custom tables.

He can make you an all in one converible table.

Tables are not cheap but you get what you pay for. Google him and you can see many examples.

A lot of this depends on how supportive your partner is and how often you expect to play.

My group plays monthly and we also rotate hosting so I went with a topper (essentially a full table without legs) to sit on top of the dining table. The topper sits in our store room most of the time. It takes up a lot of room but we have the space.

If you're playing weekly then having a convertible table is probably best. The Chanman tables are stunning!

@T_Chan how heavy would you say those toppers are, more or less?

Plywood, ~75lbs
Solid oak ~90lbs

These toppers shouldn't really be moved around by 1 person, it's a 2 person job. Though they're not overly heavy, they are awkward due to their size. When people come over for poker, get the 1st person to help remove the topper. Before the last person leaves, ask them to help you put it back on.
