Going to try and document this one a little better than in the past. I’m not a blogger so don’t expect a lot of commentary. I’ll add more numbers, like the number of cardplayer people registered and stuff later after the introduction party.

Day 1
Got to the ship, Navigator of the Seas. Headed to the pacific side of the Mexico coast. Here’s some shots of the poker room setup and the agenda.
Note that this part of the cruise, Cardplayer entrance to the room, is seperate from the cruise. Not everyone in this cruise is signed up for the Cardplayer part. So all the normal cruise stuff is happening, Cardplayer just rents the conference rooms and runs a card room on this trip.

Looks like there are 244 or so card players on board. Ship is only 50% sold, so about 10% of the total passengers are Cardplayer. Lots of poker talk in the elevators and in the common area, lol.

Only “pro” besides Linda I’ve heard of so far on board is Jerry Yang.

Few more pictures, opening meetngreet. Open bar, horsedevours buffet, band playing jazz, we are some of the younger people.

Reserved for day 2
Started the day with a $255 nob ante tournament, Jerry Yang at my table. Only 30 entrants, play is good, not crazy, jerry busts out and rebuys about level 2.
I go to level 5, in the BB, flop a straight but the bottom end, guy has an open ended and top pair, he shoves I call he hits the bigger straight.
Takes me to one small blind ($200), I spin it up to $3000 then go out with pocket jacks to pocket queens.
Cash games have started already but we are going to walk around the ship some. This is a small ship but packed with stuff still.

We also played in the survivor tournament today. I was out early- Kevin cashed! He won back most of our buy-ins for today. One more tournament this evening. A survivor satellite for the main event.

The survivor format is 1in five gets paid. We had 49 players and we did a 11 way chop.
For some measure of safety they are only playing 8 to a table and have less tables set up with more room. Dealers as always are top notch, and I’ve passed out custom cut cards from group buys to most of them. They love them and are using them, so it will be interesting to see where they end up.

I’m assuming masks required?
No. The only places we have had to wear masks is in the planes and terminals, including the cruise terminal. Once on ship no masks unless you want to wear one. Some people are but not many.
Lol, people packed in pools and hot tubs wearing masks, rofl. Not happening.

Don’t want to be a bother but Id appreciate any info if you happen to know.

The website says to inquire about pricing / doesn’t give details. Was it roughly in line with their regular cruise prices?

Also do you know what the rake is like for the cash games and how the tournament fees are structured?

The prices for cabins are usually discounted early on since they get a block of rooms. But as it gets closer to the cruise, they release their unbooked cabins, and cabins go back to the price you book through Royal Caribbean, plus the add-on charge of $100 per guest to access the poker room. You MUST book through Card Player in order to have access to their poker room.

We will find out about the cash game rake and the tournament fees.

the tournament fees are listed on the rightmost column of this sheet. They appear to be optional but we pay them.

The rake is 10% up to $6 plus everyone pays $1 when you are on the button

The boat casino is higher, not sure what it is.

Thanks for the info.

Not bad for a cruise, I’ve read about some that have 10% uncapped - these are actually playable

Seeing that sheet though I think the dealer add on is separate from rake.

Ie: the $100 survivor pays 1/5 $400, which would imply a rake of 20%… Ans presumably $50 / 10% for the main. Not including the dealer add on.

Yeah, I think you are right, it’s $150 for the tourney, 5 would be $750 and they pay $625. So $125/5 = $25 out of the $150 they keep per.
