Hi everyone. New to the forum. I posted in another thread about my custom tables I’m having built for my basement.

Another topic.

I have 2 sets of chips,

500 set Pro Clay Casino (mainly cash games). I love these chips.
1000 set Las Vegas Nexgen Multicolor Edge Spot (mainly tournaments)

I don’t get a chance to play a lot but am very excited about the basement finish.

Question for the group. I don’t like chips with denominations. Are there any top quality chips on the market, such as Paulson, with no denominations. I would love to splurge and buy a 500 or 1000 set for my new poker tables

Hey there,
I am a fan of Paulson home line sets. There are many variations without denominations often referred to as NCV (no cash value). My favorite are the Pharoah NCVs.

You can keep an eye on the Classifieds or post a wanted there. But if you want something right now and like hotstamps @Apache has a gorgeous set of Paulson Top Hat & Cane NCVs on the Avalon/PCRv2 chipset: https://www.apachepokerchips.com/product/500-paulson-top-hat-and-cane-casino-poker-chips/

(and if you don’t want the whole set and want to sell the yellows I would buy em :) )

What is your budget for 500 or 1000 top quality chips? And more specifically, for what specific usage conditions are they intended, so that an efficient breakdown can be constructed for your set? Rarely is either 500 or 1000 chips the 'right' number of chips for most home games, as it depends on a wide range of variables (game choices, anticipated stakes, number of players, etc.). Those are marketing department figures, not actual user requirements.

Paulson clay chips are only available on the secondary market, since GPI no longer sells to individuals. Prices for previously-produced no-denomination sets typically run between $2 and $4 per chip in today's market, and are not readily available in most cases. They do come up for sale occasionally, but not often. Generic starburst-stamped chips in solid colors are more common, and typically run around $1-$2 per chip, often in used condition.

A better option may be clay chips from Classic Poker Chips (CPC), who does sell to the general public (and is a site Vendor here on PCF). They have stock no-denomination sets starting at $785 for 500 chips, and offer custom chips (your choice of mold, colors, edge spot patterns, and inlay design) priced at anywhere from 99c/chip (single-color solids with no inlays) up to over $8/chip at the very top end, with most custom set designs running between $2 and $3 per chip.

Get and evaluate samples before you commit to buying anything.

Budget is probably $1-$2 a chip. Probably more tournament than cash game (I love my cash game chips) but I’m open to different options. Looking at probably 1000 chip set. I’ve been playing on the CPC site since I read this and I love the many different options available.

Here are my 2 sets.

You can easily spread a decent single-table tourney with 400 chips, and cover two tables with 800 or fewer. Really only need 1000+ if wanting to support 30+ players.

I've been doing a lot of designing on the Classic Poker Chip website's Chip Designer. It's a lot of fun. I have a couple really cool designs that I saved.

I ordered a few sample sets yesterday from them. I'm excited to see what they look at feel like in person.

Same here. I feel like I've reconnected with my mistress
