Hey all - wondering where to get mid to high quality chip blanks that can be hot stamped for a decent price besides CPC. CPC is at a min of $1.15ish a chip, and wondering if there are any decent quality chips at the sub-$1 range. Ideally with inlay and options for outer-rim design, 11.5g or less, but will take any suggestions regardless of design or weight if the price and quality are good. Honestly not sure if clay is the only way to go or if there are some good injection molds/ceramics, etc. that can be hot stamped. Any suggestions appreciated.

Custom hotstamp chip with all in price below $1. Sorry, that's just not possible. Wasn't possible 20 years ago.

Custom inlayed chip? Only choice is CPC. And that is going to be significantly higher than $1/chip.

Outer rim design? You're talking about a custom clay mold? No one offers that. Well, you could try approaching CPC about that but probably cost $50k-100k or more to get that done.

You can occasionally find blank solid clay chips for under $1 in the classified. But usually they are well used (referred to as bike tires). But if you want them hotstamped, it's going to cost alot more afterwards.

I don't think you can hotstamp china clays - they'd just break under the pressure of the hot stamping machine.

And I don't know why anyone would want to hotstamp a ceramic (and not sure if its even possible). The appeal of ceramic chips is the ability to customize the entire face and rolling edge of the chip with personalized art.

You can get plastic slugged chips hotstamped (official casino weight 11.5g dice chips). That's probably your only option if you're dead set on a custom hotstamped chip under $1. And it probably wouldn't be much under $1. And there's the small issue of plastic slugged chips - they kinda suck.

If you can look beyond a hotstamped chip and want a customized chip under $1, look for China cards mold ceramic chips. But ceramic chips don't remotely feel or look like a clay chip.

Short answer to your question: No.

You want cheap blanks to hotstamp, look at the super-diamonds.

Perhaps ABC Gifts and Awards has some options for inexpensive hot stamps.

The dies are gonna cost you, though.
Exactly, unless they (or any chip seller) has stock stamp designs he's willing to use. But buying cheap second-hand super diamonds or unicorn mold plastics to stamp is gonna require that hotstamp molds be made (typically $50-$75 per mold, plus the cost to actually stamp them).

But hot-stamped clays mostly means CPC. Can't hot-stamp china clays, ceramics, or even all plastics.

Might try ICON, but I doubt they would be under $1/chip.

If you wanted to go the ceramic route, you could print a faux mold and a faux hotstamp:

Thanks all for the replies and suggestions. Can anyone point me to a manufacturer that sells unicorn or suits mold plastic blanks? I think those are the options I'm looking for. Or even a manufacturer who would create a new plastic mold with similar quality. Looking at some previously sold sets on here (see pics), it looks like they take hot stamps pretty well. No idea what they feel like, but this is exactly the look and price I'm looking for. Would love to get my hands on some to test on a hot stamp machine.

^Those pictured are (mostly) mermaids and suits molds, both plastic made in solid colors.

Plastic super-diamonds, unicorns, and mermaids are no longer manufactured afaik. The suits mold plastics are Bud Jones brand made by GPI, who limits their sale to gaming industry clients only.

So for new unslugged plastics (typically 8-9g), you're pretty much out of options.

Regarding a new mold/project for a plastics company, try Chinese companies listed on Alibaba.com -- but expect a very high minimum order quantity necessary to get their interest. (And don't beleive everything you hear there).

What a sad state the poker chip industry is in. How do we revive it? There’s gotta be opportunity for good products and some money to be made!

There's cheap Super Diamonds all over eBay, but the modern ABS plastic version is very inferior to the vintage types from decades ago.

Since ABC does promotional material, I suspect they have budget offerings that might use some sort of stock stamps or a series of them.
