I recently purchased these with the intention of building a collectors set. I've since changed my mind but that too could change if someone has some mint $100 and $500 to sell me.

All of the chips are factory fresh except for the two racks of $5's. The $5'a may have been used in a home game or two but are still in very good condition.

$1,000 shipped CONUS.

Willing to split for the ambitious buyer! (See pictures for condition.)

PayPal F&F only!

PM if interested.

People actually play uncirculated chips? Not me. I treat them like extended warranties.

I was apprehensive about that as well the first couple times. Just had to lay down some rules about not using the chips to check against another chip and splashing the pot etc.

I did have to ask one guy that slammed a bet down not to do it again. I explained why. That was the only minor incident. I'm not buying chips to look at them sit on my shelf. They neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to see the felt.

I would have one simple rule:

1) Nobody touches the chips but me.

Actually I tried using uncirculated chips in the past. They don't shuffle well and when they "chip" it looks like someone took a bite out of one. Besides, if you want that "casino look and feel" uncirculated is not going to give you that in my opinion.

How are they supposed to get that broken in feeling if they just sit on a shelf? :)

That brings me to my next point. Unless you host 5 games a day 7 days a week you will never properly break-in uncirculated chips. You end up with chips that look "damaged".

not sure i agree, arent brand new CPC chips considered mint?

plenty of us around here have had mint CPCs and broken them all in very well

I guess we have different definitions of what "properly" broken in chips feel like. I agree that mint chips are challenging to deal with at first but this usually noticeably improves after only a few hours of action. Maybe YMMV.

Now that I get considering that CPC's never "survived" a casino. Do you let them break-in naturally or do you have to help them along? In other words do you bag them and tumble them?

If you have 3-4 people at an 8 person table who regularly shuffle chips, it'll only take a few games for the extreme sharp edges to round off a tiny bit

I play mostly in Casino's not in home games. Since most of the casinos in my area use Paulson's that is the chip I prefer. Something about the sound, the smooth edges, the softness yet hardnes. The dirt and the grime and the human oil doesn't bother me a bit.

I remember the first set of uncirculated Paulsons I purchased, Crystal Park Casino. I remember thinking to myself "WTF". I couldn't believe that casino chips started out this way. Dry, brittle and with sharp edges! I honestly thought I had been scammed.

I tried introducing them into my home game and after one full year, despite being authentic Paulsons, it just never felt right to me. Nothing but circulated Paulsons in my home games from then on.

Lol. This reminds me of the first time I had the Riversides in play, at @bergs. @guinness was shuffling a stack of bluebirds, and I jokingly deadpanned, "don't do that with the Riversides."

Everyone at the table stopped short and looked at me, as I looked serious. Then I said "just futzing with you--they're chips. Shuffle away." An audible and collective letting out of a breath followed, as everyone had been shuffling them, me included.

Chips in play are meant to be shuffled. But don't you dare splash the pot with my Riversides.

While I agree with you that (slightly) circulated chips feel better than uncirculated, in my experience that shuffling during around 100 sessions will get uncirculated chips into almost the perfect condition. I've done it with several sets - both Paulsons, ASMs, and BCCs - and had very positive results.

Maybe your guys don't shuffle as much as my group did? Or maybe you're playing much less frequently? I would think you'd see a noticeable change toward a circulated feel after as few as 15-20 sessions.

Noticeable change "Yes". Anything close to resembling the chips at Harrahs "No".

What's funny is the thought never crossed my mind to buy mint chips and not use them. I honestly can't imagine that. If I'm going to buy chips and not use them, then they are sample sets sitting in my display cases.

So when you guys go to a Casino and the chips are all perfectly worn, oily with clumps of dirt from God knows where...does that feel weird to you?

I offered $6k for that set without the display cases and was turned down. He means business.
