Hello all,

I am hoping someone can help me here. This specific poker chip in the picture is one of my friends sets. The chips feel really good and professional. He does not remember where he got them from but I really want to buy a set of the same chips. I have tried looking online for the same design hoping it’ll be the same chip. I wanted to know if anyone here is able to identify where I can buy these poker chips based on the design because it seems to me that the design is very specific, having not seen it anywhere online. Thank you.

Looks like a different model of a basic plastic chip (maybe some kind of roulette check?) but looks like there wasn't ever any kind of hot stamp.

Welcome to the forum. I think in time you'll find other chips you like a lot more here :)

It’s a slugged chip. You can tell from the faint circles on the inside of the chip. The are likely heavy but if that is the type you are looking for you can find them all over the place that will have a similar feel and sound.

If you guys play with any regularity, upgrade to something else. You’ll love it almost as much as your crew.

You should weigh them and try to pick them up with a magnet. If they are more than 12g apiece, and magnet sticks, then it's a plastic slugger. Cheap and can be found anywhere.

Be careful of this forum and the people in it. They will have you spending at least 20x the cost of these chips in no time!

Looks like an older style plastic chip of the type that came prepackaged in a wooden carousel. My local cigar bar has a mishmash of similar ones as their “house” chips. They probably made one run of 10,000 sets of these and then threw away the design never to be made again. If you’re dead set on these for sentimental or other reasons, you’ll probably have to stalk eBay. Otherwise, there are much better handling new chips out there. You can start with samples here: https://www.apachepokerchips.com/product-category/poker-chip-samples/ ;)

Just so you know what you’re getting into, for better quality chips prices will range from around 15c to holy s@#$! per chip. Good luck!

I've seen a lot of cheap metal-slugged plastic chips over the years, but never this specific design. Good luck in your search, but I fear you're going to come up empty.

I'd take great exception of your description ("feel really good and professional"), as they really aren't either one. But if that's the feel/sound you really want, there are many cheap design alternatives available that will fit the bill. How it looks will need to be compromised, however.

Yeah, I've spent way too much of my life looking at cheap chips on eBay and I can usually find any of the slugged chips people mention here but these ones have me completely baffled. I have never seen them before.

And to provide a brief idea what were all talking about... slugged refers to the metal disk that is inside the chip, to give it that “official casino weight” even though casino chips often run around 10g and this chip likely weighs 14g

Cheap Chip manufacturers decided that to improve those interlocking cheap plastic wafers they used to sell as poker chips to your grandparents (about 2g each), they wanted to increase the weight to make them more “real like” so they added the slug. Meh. You won’t find much love for cheap plastic slugged chip in these parts, but if you decide to upgrade, there’s lots of reasonably priced options.

Good luck on your search.

There’s also lots of unreasonably priced options...and those are the best!

Since no one else said it, check your wallet at the door OP. You have stumbled in like so many others, now prepare to drool over beautiful photos until you inevitably find the sweet release of Paulsons:)

Oh to be a chip virgin......... good luck....hang on tight

Also, get different chips than your friend, for chip security in your game, just don't get dice chips.......

I want to be kind to you and just say that you need to hang out here and see what's what. PCF will open your mind to a whole new and very expensive world.

Like BGinGA, I've seen lots of different (cheap) plastic chips over the years, but not anything like this one.

I'm curious. Any more information on where your friend originally got the set -- did he order them online? was it from Craigslist/classifieds, etc? what part of the country? might they have been from a different country?

Google "Search by Image" was no help, either: :confused

They don't make 'em like that anymore... (maybe literally)

You can find a very similar set of chips (there are tons of them). You can find the same weight and feel with a slightly different look.
My advice is to set a chip total needed for each color/denomination and a total budget range, then look for the best chips that fit that budget.
