I hate tourneys and never want to play them. However, I love my players and if they want to play a tourney, I’ll oblige. So doing some hopefully unneeded homework:

Starting stacks:
$200 for 6-9 players

Payout:
6-7 entrants: second place gets double the buyin, first place gets the rest

8-9 entrants: third place breaks even, second place gets double the buyin, first place gets the rest

Blinds:
Levels are 15 or 20 minutes, depending on if we want a ~2 or ~3 hour tourney

1/2
2/4
3/6
4/8
5/10
10/20
15/30
25/50
50/100

Any tweaks recommended?

For payouts on a full table, I like 50%,30%,20% for 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
That way, 3rd gets more than just a break-even.
If you want more of a bonus to win, do 60%, 25%, 15%
I second the 50%/30%/20%. I'd probably even run that on smaller tournies because I feel like more people getting paid == potentially more returning players.

You should have breaks! Breaks are great.

I’d put a 5/15 level in between 5/10 and 10/20 to avoid another 100% increase. You could also put a 1/3 level in level 2.
