Please explain “Primary” and “Secondary?” (1 Viewer)

How much space does the casino need to store an entire second set of chips? I'm assuming we're talking like, millions of chips here... do they have some sort of second vault for them or something? Do they just pop them in the attic and count them every now and then?

I see a lot of sets labeled as Primary and Secondary. Does that just refer to color variations? Is one better quality or not rare than the other?

Good question. When you are losing, chips are secondary. When you are winning, chips are primary. No....wait. I have that wrong. When you are losing, chips are primary. When you are winning, they are secondary.

I'd imagine the area of ~12x16ft for a secure storage area would be more than adequate to store secondaries, alternate roulette, tourney, promotion etc chips. Likely there would be routine counts with measures to seal/secure chips in between use in various containers.

Cool I have between 1.22-4.4% of HSI primaries 1-500, I am personally surprised how many $1 chips the casino had in inventory. Perhaps the stakes were lower or simply the set was older that the $1 chips were put into more use. The other thought was that the casino must have had several $1 based limit tables requiring 94000 ones. Also given the Tertiary chip count is similar to the primary perhaps prior to closure there was a planned/pending replacement of the primary 1's at some point.....

I wonder how much of that set would be put into action at any one time/table/floor space/#of patrons? Also I am curious in the great scheme of things how many "extra's" were ordered to cover for attritional losses of chips? The secondary count could represent a more bare bones minimum requirement to run the floor and would also explain why so many of the recent Majestic Star chips are so worn given the Secondary set is often smaller than Primary.
