i'm not nearly as hard on Escape from LA as a lot of people, but it would be really, really difficult to do justice to this in a remake.

Carpenter has been the subject of a lot of well-deserved and delayed praise over the last couple of years, but i'm not sure his creative juices are strong enough for me to hold out hope simply based on the idea that he will contribute in some ambiguous capacity to the remake.
