PLAY BALL!!!!! (2 Viewers)

With the Cardinals now experiencing an outbreak I am having doubts that we will finish the 2020 baseball season. I think baseball should have gone with the bubble just like the NBA, WNBA, & NHL.

In honor of baseball this week end, my wife ordered raw peanuts in the shell and home-roasted them. [ Oh the smell was heavenly! ] Then I grilled some extra large hotdogs - couldn't find a foot long dog, but these were plenty big.

We had an afternoon of baseball food. Home roasted peanuts, our very own "foot long" hotdogs with the fixings, ice cream sandwiches and soda. The only thing we didn't have was the $50+ ballpark price tag for the meal.

Oh, and the Rangers somehow found a way to win the game. That hasn't happened nearly often enough this year.

We had planned on a trip to the new Ranger ball park to catch a game. But that will have to wait till another year.

2021 for sure(?) -=- DrStrange

I read a tweet (so take it for what its worth) that the Marlins broke quarantine and went to a club while some of the Cardinals broke quarantine and went to a casino... FFS, can you be any more selfish?

The MLB has already warned TV networks to plan for another shutdown.
I'm just going to assume this question is rhetorical and let any actual answer play itself out.

Yeah, the story gets to you after the last couple of years though. Reg season HoFer. A "practice Jordan". If he crashes and burns here, his story is written and I don't know that a WS 'ship later will fix it.

Don't tell that to John Elway...how many superbowls did he lose before they finally got him a couple rings at the end of his career...

I am in shock that this season was actually played out. I really can't believe it. I would have bet anything that this was going to be a ten day long failed attempt. Congratulations MLB and the whole baseball loving world.

It didn't look good that is for damn sure. Think the players union really brow beat the players...reminded them how terrible the optics were with the negotiations prior to the restart...imagine if the season got canceled because players didn't want to be bothered to be smart and not go to bars and such.

Giants fan here. I am honor bound to root against the Dodgers, and I'll stand proudly by that code. But I'll be damned if I don't want to see Kersh play well. I'd love to see him lead the team in a close series.

It’s a 4 hour drive up, $550 for a ticket, and 4 hour drive home.

Not sure that I can afford it mostly time wise, but then again, I don’t know if I can afford not to go.

Will be asking the wife tomorrow :nailbite:

That's the new park in Dallas/Arlington, right?

Yeah it said Arlington when I looked up tickets. Not familiar with the area or overly familiar with MLB, so I actually didn’t know there was a new park.

Are they pumping in noise? For 11,000 fans or however many it was, the sound was pretty rocking last night.

The Rangers moved to the Ballpark at Arlington in the mid-90's... I don't know what the latest corporate name of the stadium was (am I'm really sick of that trend), but I'm pretty sure they shut it down after only 25ish years of use and were supposed to open a new park this spring.

Someone in the know will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm certain the Rangers were supposed to play in a new park this season (and I can't imagine the World Series is playing in the stadium the Rangers left). We were supposed to travel to Texas in August and check two more parks off the list (I've been to the old stadium in Arlington, but not Houston... We were gonna hit the new Rangers park and pick up Houston too).

Globe Life Field is the new ballpark in Arlingtom (opened this year) right across the street from Globe Life Park (the former The Ballpark in Arlington)

I know confusing, just like playing the World Series in Texas when it's between 2 teams from California & Florida. o_O

Missed the Dodgers NLCS in Chicago. Missed Kobe's last visit in Indiana. The WS is in TX, figure the powers at be can only give me so many chances.

Trying to catch potential child watcher tomorrow morning, and buying tickets for Tuesday Game 6. Just need Tampa to win a game or two so it goes at least 6.

Snares are good.

Are tickets actually available or are you going to buy from a reseller?

Thanks a great player is great no matter what the team. Btw, my hatred for the Giants have now been replaced by the Astros! ;)

Never know what's best in these scenarios. Have only looked at StubHub so far, but sitting on MLB site right now waiting to get through eventually.

edit: no tickets available through that. It's only resellers at this time.

Go Big Blue!!!! Kershaw didn't disappoint last night. I wanted him to keep pitching.

I would check and see what the policy is on fan attendance availability before buying tickets. The game last night was limited to 11,300 fans. Don't know how they are determining who get in or not.

which when you think about it that kind of defeats the purpose of the bubble.......

The Rangers have a new stadium, opened this year.

The old one wasn't that old, but it had a terrible failure - no roof / no air conditioning. So you folks from milder climates might not understand how bad it got to see a game in the summer. Day games could easily be 110f in the stands. Worse if you were in a sunny area. Even night games could be 90+f at the end of the game.

The pricing sucked too. I could sit in the air conditioned Club level at an Astro's game and pay less than a middling seat pretty far from the action at a Ranger's game. It is about the same drive time to either park.

We will check out the new park "someday". It will be interesting - the Rangers have a shitty team and will not likely be in contention for years. I have to say that we can see a Rangers vs Astros game in either park, but it will be rough paying a premium price to sit in the new park and watch basically an AAA ball club losing 90+ games a year.

The new Globe Life field was built to optimize how close the customers are to the field. I think it will be hard to judge that without being there. So we will just have to wait.

While the little kid in me would love to go see a World Series game. I am thinking that might not be such a wise move on my part.

One last bit of nostalgia - - - When I was a kid growing up in Midland, Texas there was a minor league team playing a few miles away. I could get in for free after the 3rd inning. I can't count how many times I rode my bike down the highway to watch baseball. It was a simpler time - no one had a concern about a ten year old kid off by himself so late at night.

Riding home on my bike, with no lights, down the highway close to midnight. What were we thinking? -=- DrStrange
