Have found some pretty good deals locally on cash sets of pharaohs and majestics and wanted some feedback on which chip you guys prefer between the two? Thanks in advance!

Majestics -and (43mm) Royals- have been made under the supervision of the very knowledgable @Apache, and to the latter's standards, so I 'd only buy these two specific types of China Clays.
I don't know details about the CC Pharaohs.

I’d give Majestics the nod, more square edges & smaller labels, but they are the strongest smelling of modern CCs. Like toxic plastic waste.

Pharaoh’s have better edge spots.

Thanks for the info! I actually love the colors of the 25c and 50c majestic chips so I may lean that way if I decide to get a small stakes cash set

Nice. Also, I do believe the smell fades over time. All current CCs are nice and great value.

Welcome to the forum!

Hi @TrillAK - what did you end up deciding on? I'm also in the process of figuring out my first set...deciding between Dunes / Pharaohs / Milanos / Majestics. One thing I discovered is you really need to oil to have them at their 'potential'

I think they are comparable so it basically comes down to personal preference. I preferred the edge spots and inlay designs of the Pharoahs so I went with that for my first cash set.

The other factors are the label size and color. Milanos are smaller (which I like) and Majestics are black. I'm waiting for my Majestics samples to arrive to see them side-by-side.

Just got my second set of 500 majestics today. I live in Pennsylvania and I ordered them on Tuesday. They weren't supposed to show up until Saturday. Can we just say that Josh at Apache poker chips is awesome?

I added another 200 red birds to my cash set, and then I bought higher denominations for a tournament set. Just finished oiling some fives. I have to get off to the karate school to teach now so I only have 342 more chips to oil when I get home. LOL

What about the dunes set?
Apache doesn’t have samples sets in right now so I’m waiting. They advertise that they are a very close feel to the originals. They also say there is 2 versions of the dunes chips and they have the better ones. I’m assuming they are china clays

Spinetti's has the nexgen type material dunes they have sharp edges and Apache poker does have the China clay version

Pharaoh's Club for cash (different spot patterns) and Majestic for tournament (identical spot patterns).

I can't think of a single real casino/card room cash set (aside from home market sets) that uses all of the same edge spot patterns across all denominations, but it's somewhat common for tournament sets.

Apache’s Dunes are still my first CC pick.
I really want to get a set of these. I am tempted to buy the commemorative set from spinetti's but they are the next gen material . The only thing I like about the next gen material is the sharp edges. Josh said his dunes chips will be back in by November.

Water and a little bit of dawn dish soap...a very little

okey! thanks for the information. I am recieving my majestics later this week and was a little scared of washing and oiling them as this would be the first set I would ever own. So don't want to ruin them immedietly!

If you want to play it safe you can do each one individually just dampen the towel hold the chip and rotate it. Staying away from the label completely. I submerged mine for 30 seconds and had no issue with them dried them off and then oil them . You have to oil them it takes the smell away and they become so bright. don't do what I did let them set at least 24 hours after you were done to dry I tried to put them away in a few hours and had to reoil them Because they got dull again. Also if you're going to put them in chip racks oil the racks

No oil before applying the label. Wash with a wet towel to get dust off. I was too worried to throw the chips in a bucket of water for the dust but people do it and it works.
