PC Build Help (1 Viewer)

I think the covid is resulting in a surge of pc building. I’m going to build one myself. First time in 10 years.

However, it’s not cheap if you’re gaming. What’s your intended purpose?

Wooo!

Just need to work on the cable management at a later date.

Just tried out warzone. Not too bad, I will have to play with the graphical settings and what not. I need to see how to monitor my CPU temp and everything.

Best gaming desk ever.

but seriously, hoping my desk arrives today. Pretty sure the wife is gonna kill me.
Can you share what desk you chose? Looks awesome!

So are you playing on the PC with a controller?

edit: just had to look up overclocking, read about that, heat sinks, etc. Lol I'm thinking building my own and/or just copying your build may be over my head.

For now I'm sticking on controller. Once I get set up, I may try mouse and keyboard.

Here's the link to my main monitor:

And the secondary monitor:

If your wife doesn't want to kill you now and then you are doing it wrong!

I swear I didn't expect to wake up this morning, especially when she made a comment about the monitor and I couldn't help but fire back and say just wait until the other monitor comes in. SMH.

Nice. I may just have to copy you all the way down if you've already done the research, love the pricetag for the table.

Follow up questions:
1. Why 2 different monitors? Higher price tag for the one you'll play on mostly and saving on the second?

2. Damn that's expensive for the one monitor compared to what I thought they'd cost. If I just use basic monitors we have coming over, I'm guessing that'd be a pretty big limitation?

1. Yes, one for gaming and one for discord, twitch, youtube, internet, etc.

2. Trust me, those are cheap for monitors!

Here's a good starting point to narrow down your monitor search.

Ah very cool, makes sense. I need mine to be work and then gaming, so this would work. I'll probably need the one nice and then two cheaper.

Holy crap what a cool site! It's like I'm 80 years old, I'm googling but not finding anything that cool. I need a new phone, wife needs a tablet, and obviously monitors, so I'm gonna go look for awhile.

If you're into high end gaming you'll want at least a 2K+, 120Hz + monitor, but your second monitor can be less expensive unless you're playing a game or simulator that will go across them, like a racing or flight sim.

When you're building your PC, use pcpartpicker.com to make sure it's all compatible.
I uh, I planned on legitimately copying yours part for part. Is that discouraged like with chippies? It's just that people already chimed in, and I'll literally be using mine at most in a similar fashion as you. And it was budget friendly.

I do appreciate when folks post this stuff and help out, I literally just ordered a new old phone off of your product chart thing.

Shouldn't be an issue. Only thing you may want to look at is a different case, as I don't think the one I ordered is still in stock. Other than that, I like everything I have so far!

I’m planning on doing the same thing. But can someone explain to me why the power supply is almost as expensive as the processor??!!

The power supply is the least sexy and often ignored component, but one of the most crucial, as it's connected to EVERYTHING and if it goes, it takes all the sexy parts with it.

Got these in on a Thursday.

Case was supposed to be here Friday, but was delayed until Monday.

Dagnabit, wish you had tagged me in this thread, just seeing it now. Would've told ya to wait since Zen 3 is on the horizon and Nvidia is launching new graphics cards tomorrow, you'd get more bang for your buck waiting a bit longer.

Also, glad you didn't go with Thermaltake on the PSU, only heard bad things. I'm an EVGA fan myself and also agree going fully modular is much nicer on the cable management and airflow front.

I'm USAnumberWON if you want to add me, maybe we'll hookup in a match together :)

I have mine on my desk which kinda takes up a good chunk of space so just ordered this tonight so I can put it to the side of my main desk (would put the PC on the wood top, not inside/under the wood)

I need something smaller than that I think. Trying to make it harder for the kids to knock it down. I tried the desk but it just took up too much space.
