I wanted to do something special for our charity league to celebrate next month's 100th game anniversary. We've been using plastic chips since, and we are ready for an upgrade! Since I am on a tight budget, I wanted something that is somewhat affordable but without sacrificing quality. So I decided to put together a 500pc customized Paulson Solid THC tourney set to surprise the league with. I hope they like it.
  • Paulson Solid THC and ChipCo racks from @allforcharity - I opted for the "Fair" quality chips to save on costs, and I think they turned out a lot better than expected. I also like the weathered feel that adds a bit of character to the chips.
  • Labels I designed myself and printed by @Gear - We went with un-laminated labels that were the most compatible with the fair condition chips. Quality is top-notch!
  • I spent a total of $407 USD for this project, plus hours of labeling and hand oiling each chip, that I didn't mind.
For those of you just starting out like myself, this is an excellent option without seriously breaking the bank. Thanks again to @allforcharity and @Gear for making this happen!

Very nice set, good choice of colors and great labels. Even nicer that you did it for your league.

Thanks! Yeah I originally wanted to match all the colours we've been using but there were no blacks or reds available. I chose orange and chocolate instead and I think it shows well.

Congrats to everyone involved! Love the artwork and the textured label. Quite inspiring.

Excellent set! I agree, the buttery feel of these chips are perfect!

Currently waiting to hear about labels too based on @Kid_Eastwood amazing Cal Meva tribute.

Oiled chips are bottom left in the photo..

Thank you sir! Yes oiling definitely transforms the chips, night and day. Here is how the non-oiled chocolates looked next to the oiled ones.

Thanks for sharing! Very well done. I'm a big fan of the look, feel, (and price point) of used Paulson chips myself, either solid or spotted.

This is a great case study on how someone can still put together a top notch, great looking, yet still affordable chip set, with casino used Paulson clay chips on the THC mold at a total cost of around or less than $1/chip.

Did you mill the chips before labeling? Any signs of the hotstamp?

Since these were the more used chips, the hot stamp were worn and already smoothed out, so no need for milling. No signs of the hot stamps at all.
I did order another set of excellent condition solids to use as fracs, and those need to be milled. I'll be using laminated labels for those. Will post pics when they are done!

Great looking set, and not a bad price too! I'll have to keep this in mind, thanks for posting.

Also, very nice touch having the dog's collar match the color of the chip

Thanks! Yes the dog collar colour matching is my favourite part of the design. I thought it would be a nice and subtle touch.
The background is a pattern I made from scratch to mimic a textured look since these were smooth labels.
Definitely keep this in mind for your next set. Great value for what you get IMO.

Thanks! I couldn't agree more and that was what I was trying to accomplish. I never considered solids but when Berny showed me what he had, I saw the potential of creating a really nice set. Originally, I was about have chips made from The Poker Depot, then I stumbled upon this site. It would have cost me roughly the same for plastic chips...this one ended up costing $0.82 each all in.

I really love this set. I have had a project like this in the back of my mind for ages. What I love about a THC solid set is the simplicity. From an aesthetic point of view once you start adding edge spots it gets so complicated to make all the colors match.

Solid sets just always look simple and classy. Great Job!

agreed. its a very classy look specially if its for tournaments. They just remind me of the old school days. Great lineup!

Thanks guys! Yes they do work well with tournaments, mind you I love edge spots and I'm working on a cash set with those, but the solids definitely gives it a really classy look and feel. I also made sure not to do too much with the design and take away from the simple look of the THC solids.

@Lemonzest time to bring that project of yours into reality!

Had a chance to play with @RoyalBluff 's chips last night - thanks, Mark! Great design, great labels, excellent execution! It's very nice to see that my old roulette finds can really be brought to new life with some care, dedication, and an eye for design. Congratulations! I think your Mad Dogs club were genuinely impressed!

Thanks @allforcharity ! Your chips were definitely a hit. It’s just too bad we didn’t do well in the tourney, but had an awesome time regardless. The next on the list are the bounty and show’em chips! Here’s some pics from last night.
