Had a quick look over at the chip guide for IHC $500 with shaped inlays and there doesn't seem to be many options. Obviously that site isn't conclusive so I reach out to the collective mind of PCF for answers. What is everyone's favorites and what is everyone hoddling? Pron is definitely appreciated!

There aren't many 43mm Paulson chips made with shaped inlays, and certainly none recently -- making finding any live chips nearly impossible.

Have there been trends in casinos, such that certain kinds of chips are less commonly used than they used to be? For example, from reading the forum I get the impression that THCs aren't made much any more and that casinos have moved to RHCs... are shaped inlays on the way out too?

Just curious here; I don't visit casinos often so wouldn't know.

They haven't made Paulsons with shaped inlays in a long time. Nobody has an exact date, but its like 15-20 years

And RHCs are definitely more common than THCs, although THC's are still made.

Some suggest that casinos DGAF abut RHC and THC and the trend towards RHC is driven by GPI, who push them because they wear out faster (and thus need to be replaced more frequently).

I suspect this is part of the reason, but RHC chips also allow for a larger inlay which casinos may like for their promo and branding graphics.
