Not Mine Paulson Classic - I think we've reached a new record for asking price (1 Viewer)

Free shipping! And over $3000 under face value! Hurry before they are gone!!

Just came across that listing earlier, just ridiculous. ONLY $40/chip!!

Response: “Supply and demand” :bag:

I personally know the seller and hes a good guy. Just last month I bought a super rare dealer button off him for $20,000!

Well, I've got a 1200-chip CDI98 set. It's exceedingly rare. I'm sure that every single one of them was used on the movie set of "License to Kill" and seen in the opening title sequence and the movie scenes, too. I don't really want to sell, but I'll sacrifice this set for 2.4 million dollars (Canadian). Not only will shipping be free, but I will fly first class to you and hand-deliver it in an armoured car so all your neighbours can go "Ooh" and "Aah". Seriously inquiries only.

$15,084 for 500 chips. $30 per chip. Amazing.

This crosses the line from rediculous to fraudulent.
I was just about to report this to eBay but sent him this email instead:

I was just about to report this listing as fraudulent.
But I see your history and you don't seem like a scammer.
You do realize that these chips are NOT rare. They are NOT real casino chips and they are NOT worth face value.
The MAX value for them is about $2 to $3 / chip. A little research will prove this.
If you seriously aren't willing to sell them for less than your asking price then you need to delete your ad.
------

I'm curious to see what kind of response I get.

And then after I sent the msg, eBay's "you might also like....."
lists a set of 500 fantasy CDI chips for only $5000 .

o_O Man, I know that most eBay prices are pretty out of whack to begin with when it comes to poker chips, but this pricing is so bad it's comical.

When did Classics even approach $6-8/chip? Yikes.

I got this response :
Hi,
There is nothing fraudulent about my listing. This is the price I am willing to accept for the set of chips I have listed. I am clear about what I am selling. You and I differ on whether they are rare or not. Many are in the hands of collectors and players but very few are for sale especially right now and certainly not in groups of 500. My price is my price.

Sounds like he is just delusional. Does that make is not fraud?

Has anyone here ever reported a listing to eBay? What will happen?

I could be wrong but I think rare now is like artisanal. It’s just a word that’s now somehow subjective so that everything can be considered rare or artisanal. That being said I’d be super interested if eBay took action.

eBay taking action against him sounds more communistic/socialist than capitalist. Technically the guy is in the right, this is a capitalist market and he should be allowed to price them at whatever he wants, even though $30 per chip is ridiculous.

Yeah they’d never take action based on his pricing that’d 100% be grounds for legal action. I doubt they’d take action based on these circumstances but if he said “there’s only one collection of 500 chips that exist and they were hand made by Doyle Brunson” id hope they’d at least ask for proof.

He says they are rare. His response to me was that we just disagree.
But it does say that they are "Authentic Paulson Top Hat & Cane Poker Chip "
Likely he just doesn't know the difference but could be considered fraud when combined with 'rare' and his stupid asking price.
