Need to make space for your tiger set? I’m here to help. Missed the fun there, but can help you make space for your shiny new set. Looking for as clean/minty set as possible at mkt prices. Something like the quantities below. Can be a little flexible. Definitely better if the chip is reasonably easy to find to fill out the set. Budget 1-3k depending on set and condition.

1x300
5x300
25x300
100x100
40x500
20x1k

lmk and I will pm with interests!

I’ve got a bunch of Aztar chips that could fill this description…not sure those are of any interest, but PM me if interested and I’ll get you details! :)

Actually they fit “clean” and are in really nice condition, but definitely not “minty”…

I just noticed that you are pretty new here, and looking at your denominations - Do you really play cash games that big, or are you looking for a set to do double duty as cash and tournament? You may know that most here will discourage that and suggest that you have two distinct sets for that purpose.

These Jumers cash sets aren’t perfect for your breakdown, but they’re in the neighborhood and the price isn’t bad for mint Paulsons. And $500s and $1ks exist and shouldn’t be too hard to find, since they were just sold a few months ago.

Unfortunately I don’t even have a regular game going yet. I think some of the groups I can put together will want to play a smaller game and some other groups will want to play a larger game. Trying to be able to accommodate both.

Right, his breakdown seems odd. I just assumed he wants to play stakes from $1/1 to $5/10. (Still seems like too many $1s though.)

So bottom line sounds like about a Paulson 1000 chip cash set for $1-3/chip average. Not the easiest ask. Some more recent TCR sales come to mind like IG and LE or some slightly older much more available sets like HSI or HSCleveland.

I'm not too familiar with IG pricing but off the top of my head it sounds very doable, especially since people seem to be moving on from them already.

LE has cheap and abundant low denoms but $25s on up are impossible now that I think about it.

HSI is probably your best bet for future expansion/reduction.
$1s are about $1/chip depending which of the 3 you pick.
$5s are $2-2.50/chip for used
$25s are $2/chip
$100s will run you $5.50-6+/chip though and finding a whole rack isn't the easiest
$500s will be $6-7/chip if you can find any
$1ks are abundant and around $10/chip

Based on your example breakdown you're already looking at $1500-1650 for just the $1s $5s and $25s, and the HSI $5s are mostly offered in sets these days. The high denoms will add $600 + $300 + $200 = $1100 so with HSI assuming availability you're already looking at the top of your budget.

HSCleveland has less expensive $100s for sure. I think someone has a listing for 6-7 racks of them for like $200/rack right now?

So what you're looking for is doable but "Paulson" and "1000 chips" will likely put you at the top of your budget immediately. I didn't even include "minty" and I'm staying away from talking about THC vs RHC. For reference, primary Tigers with your breakdown (even if you could get them) would be well over $7000.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I definitely left the ranges pretty wide to see where/what sets come in. I can be in at less than 1k chips or pay more as necessary. Could pay listing price for a tiger cash set if avail… haha

You’re right I forgot about Jumers. You can probably tell which sets I’ve owned, thought about, or neither  :ROFLMAO:

Jack Cincinnati also a reasonable readily available choice.

I do want to throw this out there publicly. As of this morning I’m most likely blowing up this set which will leave 3-4 racks of $5 (the 3 uniform pink plus maybe one rack of definitely not pink), 3 racks of $25, and the $1s and high denoms as shown. If the op or anyone else wants to discuss please PM me. Most racks are mint.

Just in case any Paris $1s or Ballys $5s are heading out the door and you need Tiger $1s still, I can be your huckleberry.

Are you dead set on Paulson? You know you can get a fully custom set of CPCs, design your own colors and edge spots and have a custom inlay for about $2.50 - $3.50 a chip. If you don't go too crazy on the edge spot levels.

Here's a post where I'm talking about the set I'm putting together. I want a BIG set and I'm looking at about $4800 for 1700 chips. Everything except the $500 chip is level 4 or under.

I'm NEVER a fan of telling first chippers about customs or CPC without a large warning.

Go spend $20,000 on Tigers. Most likely you'll make money by the time you want to sell them. Might take even money, who knows what the future brings might lose 10% by the time you go sell.

Go buy the IGs or HSIs. Spend what you're comfortable spending to get the breakdown needed, $1500, $2k, $2,500.

No matter when you go to sell, at absolute worst you can instantly recoup your money -$500. Buy and play for 5 years and sell, either making money or paying a .25 a day rental fee.

Go build a CPC set? Make it personal and hold it forever. Because even on the off chance that you create an absolute bananas first ballot HoF set, you're still going to get hosed if ever selling. Makes 0 sense why anyone would jump in headfirst to building a CPC, unless that is their entire goal - custom build and out.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate the look with the cool CPC designs. Mostly building for play instead of resale so I would be ok with this. However happen to like the samples I bought so might just stick with paulson for now.

No worries. Just wanted to be sure you knew you had other options for clay chips. I've literally been trying for 18 months to build a set of Paulsons. (very specific requirements) and I finally decided I might never get all the right chips that I wanted, and that it was really going to be cheaper (per chip) to just order CPCs.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks Jeff, very valid point. I 100% agree that CPCs are definitely not an investment like Paulsons can be. I'm at the point where I am looking for a forever set, AND sick and tired of trying to locate the exact Paulson chips I need for the set I had envisioned. So to me it's less money out the door, and way less heartache to get what I want. Plus I'm absolutely certain that MY design will be HOF worthy and will appreciate in value! :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

How about stock Rounders from CPC? Can get 1000 chips for about $2 a chip, and should hold the value.

It may be controversial but these no molds are a great place to start imo. Just gotta wait 3-4 months and who among us here have that kind of patience really without buying another set first?

Are they Paulsons or clay? Absolutely not. Do they come from a real establishment like Tiger Palace? Nope. Are they objectively well designed? Of course. Do they offer fully customizable breakdowns and cost less than used HSI primary $1 or TCR Black Friday sale on LE leftovers? You bet.

This is pretty close to your budget and needs

$3k is on the low side for what you are looking for
Yeah, that price seems quite good, especially if the chips are cherry-picked. Outside of maybe only the JACK Detroit chips, the IGs are the best real casino set that's come up on the market over the past 5 years imo.

Thanks for the help all. Ended up spending a bit more than budget(lol), but we have a start of a set now! Will be on the hunt for an extra barrel or two over next couple of weeks!
