You’ll rarely find a good deal on eBay, compared to what you can get in the classifieds, here. How would I go about getting a Paulson set for cash games? Buy a full set or mix & match different chips? Not sure about do's & don'ts for making a set. Saw a few sets on eBay I like but they are $5 & $8 a chip.
And this Presidents’ Day sale link is the shit. This prices were on the high side when these chips were listed for sale, back in January of 2020. But it is almost literally a different world now. Chip price inflation has out-paced plywood and gasoline and so those once-upon-a-time high prices are stone cold bargains today.
Surprised they’re still available. I messaged recently and lots still thereAnd this Presidents’ Day sale link is the shit. FYP. The rest is spot-on, though.Fewer than700600 chips isn’t enough and more than10002400 per table is overkill. But who cares what I think?
It is normal for collectors here to have “mixed sets,” (different denoms from different casinos) for a variety of reasons. I think it’s safe to say that matched sets are still preferred to mixed sets, but opinions vary. So, it's normal to have different demon's from different casino chips? If so I kind of like that but am also a lil OCD thinking they should all be from the same casino. Also, how do I know if they are from the same mold & have the same dimensions/ weight etc with so many different ones out there?
Ok, makes sense to me. I just wanted a bright/ vibrant paulson set & didn't know I would have to learn so much to give my money away but I'll hang around for a while. It is normal for collectors here to have “mixed sets,” (different denoms from different casinos) for a variety of reasons. And although the majority opinion in mixed sets is probably “matching molds are better,” it’s always worth mentioning that plenty of casinos have live chips on the same table from different manufacturers. So do what you like - it’s tough to do something wrong.
How do you know if manufacturers and molds match? Well, we’re pretty friendly here, and some of us have nothing better to do than talk about chips for way too many hours in the week, so you can always ask. But if you’re planning on owning some nice chips, you should understand what you have. So hang around here, read, do searches, and learn.
Appreciate the welcome! I haven't edited my location but I'm from Louisiana. I don't mind a mixed set but looking for bright colors & chips the same size so they will fit in the same case.Welcome to the forum!
414…….you in the great state of Wisconsin originally?
If you think a mixed set will be a distraction to you, you’ll find plenty of matched sets on here, either together or by the rack. It really is whatever you prefer.
