Hi everyone!

I really like Paulson chips, but their cost is too high, so is impossible to have a set for a tournament (I'm planing to buy some ceramics chips)
In this way, I thing it was a good idea to buy a little set for head ups, with only 100 chips (40x5T + 40x25T + 9x100T).

The question here is, what Paulson are affordable now? I've found some Horseshoe, Cincinnati, casino de Isthmus and Lady Luck.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance!
Carlos

Time is also a factor. If you decide what you want and are patient as you search you will have more options at more price points. Also, simply just having cash on hand and waiting for a deal to pop up works as well. Most Paulson chips you just don’t go out and pick them up immediately. It’s a hunt requiring time commitment.

That HSI chips being sold by The Chip Room pointed out by @allforcharity are a great option.

Thanks @Eloe2000, it's a good advice, be patient. I asked later to The Chip Room, but those denom I wanted weren't available, and lately he's selling too big sets for me.
I have an offert (Apache) to buy some Horseshoe Cincinnati secondary, 100 brand new chips for $220 chipped to Spain. I not sure if there a lot difference between mint chips or userd, but for my first Paulson, I prefer they're unused.

Thanks!
Carlos.

Hey Carlos, I am a huge fan of the 05 series of the Casino De Isthmus, I have a few!!

Another member in Spain I believe is selling a set right now @Daniele. These are paulson home moulds and many consider them less quality but they are truly amazing!! Yes expensive but for the breakdown you are asking for. Apache has the $5 chips you could buy from him and grab the barrels you need from Daniele and only have to ship two barrels from the US and you would have an awesome little heads up set!!

Something to think about!

Ben

Thanks @Ben8257
I was talking with @Daniele , he's very kind. But finally, i don't know, the CDIs Inlay it's not clear. These green color with black numbre, seem to be difficult to red. On the other hand, there is something special in real casino chips, I don't know what

Your collection of CDIs is awasome :wow:, congratulations. How many chips do you have?

Thanks @Ben8257

Total or just in CDIs? Total is pretty bad... I think around 35,000 but haven't done the math in a long time, but that is between @FordPickup92 and I, as far as CDIs what you see plus a 900 chip cash set. I have a real collecting addiction issue... I keep saying I will seek help in this matter but haven't actually tried nor do I plan to! Lol best of luck again on your Chippy journey!! Without a doubt you will find you set!!

I have no idea. That kind of differences do you feel betbeen user and mint?

It's mostly in the edge quality. For Paulsons, Near Mint chips have a very square, sharp edge, and they easily stand on the rolling edge. They stack tightly with no visible wear lines or damage. Many of them have a texture on the clay and/or on the inlay. If you stack a barrel of solid colour chips in a rack then the lines between the chip almost disappear and it looks like a big block of even colour, and 20 of them will fit snugly in a standard rack.

Well used chips have rounded edges and the chip surface feels very smooth as it has been worn down in use - they will not stand on edge. Some chips may have damage on the edges which look like little holes and cracks when stacked against each other ("flea bites"). The height of the chips can also be worn down so that you can often fit 21 chips in the length of standard barrel space in a rack. Well used chips also tend to have dirt and grime collected on them from years of handling unless they have been recently cleaned.

Thanks, very useful explanation. I think I prefer near mint chips for my game in "petit comite", head ups with my son or some friend, the chips always look mint, I supose.

If you buy chips in good condition, and treat them with reasonable care, then even regular use in a home situation won't damage them. At least not like you'll see in a Las Vegas casino used 24/7 for months and years.
