I have a few chips sets, none of which are mint condition. I’ve always used the Paulson racks which have some wiggle room when racking worn to slightly worn chips.

I recently scored some minty racks and was shocked. When I went to rack the chips I could only fit 19. In order to complete the barrel with the 20th chip, it had to be forced to the point where it looked like it could damage the chip. Not something I want to do! WTF?

I agree with this. During the boat buys, we got a bunch of Paulson racks and the mint chips were so snug that I was afraid of damaging the 20th chip. Others said I was overreacting and claimed that after light usage, they all fit fine.

Chipco racks (67.1mm) all the way for me.
No issues with the Chipcos? Damn I’ll have to get some of those

Paulson are made that way on purpose so that when they start to wear (a day in the casino) they’ll fit perfectly with no additional wiggle room. Chipcos work but I just use my cheap ones that came with my 1,000 acrylic case until they get worn down.

I have had zero problem fitting my minty barrels into Paul-Son 24010 racks. Is there manufacturing variance? Any chance temperature/storage conditions are a factor here?

Warped Paulsons fit chipco racks better. Otherwise, for mint non-warped chips I prefer Paulson racks.
