Having a hard time choosing the mold design for my Sands tribute set. Narrowed it down to 4 molds.

I like the feel of the HHR but the horse heads don't go well with the theme.
Not sure what I should think about the Circle Square. The mock-up looks good but I don't like the feel of the mold that much. Hard to describe.
The Diamond Square is my favorite CPC mold. Feel and look are great. Do you think it goes well with the design? And it is worth to pay the extra money for this mold?
Last but not least the Elephant and Crown. I know it's not an option today but maybe I'm lucky and it becomes available again sometime in the future. Compared to the Sands house mold it is the closest look because it also has this "wavy" look.

Let me know what you think. Any comment is much appreciated.

Md50 would get my vote. Cash or tourney set?

MD-50

If you plan to get them made soon and are considering the MD-50 mold it will be going in to production around April from what I am told.

Yes I did. But without samples in hand it's hard to make a decision.

MD50 gets my vote, but Circle Square could be an interesting option. HHR is just too theme specific for my tastes.

By the way, the AC Sands inlays are some of my favorite colorful inlays. Love your tribute to them!

Waiting for Krony's samples with shaped inlay on Circle Square mold. Only have solids here. Maybe it becomes an option.

really torn. i agree with you, Pat, that the E&C on a glance most resembles the Sands house mold, but even though i'm pretty lax about mold theme matching the chip, it's a jump for me.

among the options above, i'd go MD-50 or CSQ as a second choice. but i'd echo Scott above and say get your hands on some scroll mold chips before you make a decision. the rounders samples will be around at some point in the near future, so grab a couple of those. they might very well be the best option for these.

just curious, will it be difficult to count pots with a 20c chip? seems kinda weird..but to each their own

Pat is in deutschland. those dudes are good at math. or at least they spank the rest of europe as far as the economy is concerned, so i'm just going to assume that they're all around competent with numbers.

I was unsure about this, too. Here's what I thought.
In Germany we have no 25 cents coins. Only 20 cents. So I thought it will be easier for us because we are used to it.
I also wanted to have a black chip in the set. And .20 vs .25 chips means more chips on the table. :)

well that makes much more sense, i was just thinking out loud

^^This. You're 100% right. Good in math, wearing lederhosen and drinking beer all the time.

jk ;)

I voted circle square. But it was very close with md50.

And ill ill echo what others have said about scroll mold, could be a good option.

Did I miss the announcement that the E&C mold was again available?

Unfortunately no. Pat mentioned in the OP that the E&C isn't currently available. Perhaps he'll be the one to write and convince the owner of the mold that his bad experience was with Red/ASM Vegas and not with CPC.

Not sure how to vote. EVERYTHING looks better on the E&C, but it is unavailable. Among the others, CSQ barely squeaks past MD-50 for for visual appeal of this set IMO, but certainly there are other reasons one might want to go with MD-50 (or CSQ.) So, pretty much a toss up - anything but the HHR.

It totally slipped my mind that the E&C mold was unavailable as of right now. I like the amount of space between the labels and the CSQ mold and I think that mold doesn't get the attention it really deserves.

I voted MD 50, that said the scroll mold would show possibility here as well.

IF the E&C mold were available it would be a slam dunk on this set.

E&C is a no brainer IMO if it becomes available. Of the other three its Circle Square > MD50 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>HHR

I don't think you can go wrong with either Circle Square or MD50. Just don't go HHR for this set, please.

Thanks for your input guys. I have to say I'm more confused now than I was before. Too many options ...

Scroll mold just don't do it for me.
I even like the Jockey mold better.

And .20 vs .25 chips means more chips on the table. :)

Yeah, he's a chipper...

OK, figured out what I like... and I'm probably the lone wolf on this...

I love, love, love the shaped inlays.

I think Circle Square looks great with the $5 and the $20...
and that Diamond Square looks great with the $100 and $500.

I could be persuaded on the $100, but the $5 and the $20 clearly look better to me on Circle Square, and the $500 clearly looks better on Diamond Square.

And I would actually do it that way.

Mixing molds? I have no big problems mixing Paulson TH&C with RHC, but there's zero chance I could do this here.

I shoot David a mail regarding the E&C mold. Hoping for a miracle. One time!

Update from David
We do not own the Elephant & Crown mold and we never did. When the last company was sold they returned it to the owners. The owners do not wish to use it again now.

Regards
David

Based on looks alone E&C > MD50 = HHR > CSQ though feel is always an important consideration.
