I've seen photos the $1s and the $5s... wondering what the $100s look like. In the photos I've seen, the $1s look almost black. I sorta like it! But don't know how that plays with a a traditional black hundo?

Well, the boringness matches the new inside of the casino/hotel itself. I stayed there a few weeks ago. They just re-furbished the whole thing inside and out, and it is 100% opposite of the (supposed) glitz and glamour of LV. I believe they are going for the generic calm/friendly green city park.

With that said, the hotel is a nice break from all the neon/flashing/bombast that is LV. And with the tram, its an easy trip to the area with the most concentrated group of poker rooms - Aria, Bellagio, Ceasars, Flamingo, PH, Harrahs, Ballys, etc.

I am staying there next week so I am interested to see the overall look/feel. Branding a property on the strip is a difficult task right now. What can you do that hasn't already done better? The gardens in Venetian are really beautiful. Fountain at Bellagio cannot be outdone. Volcano and rain forest at Mirage...check. Who can exceed the class and style of Palazzo/Venetian? Cosmo and Aria dialed in the modern glitzy niche.

Then there is Fremont with its own vibe and all the history there. It makes little sense to try and replicate that on strip.

All in all I think the face lift and re branding of Monte Carlo was a huge mistake. They could have spent a fraction of the money on comps or minor improvements to get people in the door. The problem with Monte Carlo before was that it had no wow factor to make people want to go there. I still liked the overall look/feel of the place though. It remains to be seen if the new Park MGM has anything interesting to offer visitors but I have my doubts.

I will report back to give my 2c on the place.

There is still no draw to get people in from the street. They seem to be getting some big acts in their Theatre (Laday GaGa, Aerosmith, Queen), so that might be their strategy. That, and their central location to everything else seems to be it. Everything else is boring and quiet inside. With all that said, I believe it is a good place and a good value for any poker player trying to increase his profits by limiting expenses.

I look forward to your 2c!

I will be there in a couple weeks. With the MyVegas app, they had some match play and a Halloween party (on the 11th....?) so since I was in town, figured I'd cash in some points and then have dinner at Bavette's. Supposed to be really good, bone in filet is highly recommended. First time since rebrand, so will have to get a chip or 2.

I have several racks of the $1 chips and I really like them. One thing I have noticed is that the Navy Blue doesn't photograph very well. The blue looks much darker in person than it does in most pics I have seen (mine included).
