I have purchased a "traveling" set of chips from the Palomar Card Room in San Diego. I will be hosting several cash games at the annual DoTerra conference in Salt Lake City with this set.

I am too busy to unpack/count/clean/oil these chips at the moment but sooner than later pictures will show up. This is a micro stakes set. Paulson with inlays $0.50s, $1s $5s - the $5s are shaped inlay. $0.50s are charcoal grey, $1s are chocolate and the $5s orange. There are some worn $0.50 hot stamps worn till invisible - I'll replace those with $20 outpost chips.

I see I am getting old - the idea I could leave that case unfinished and still get some sleep!

PS I can't find any other sales of chips for this place or any thread with these chips. Could it be I have the only set among us?

I have a few single chips, but have not seen any in significant quantity before. How big is the set, roughly?

~300 chips. Just guessing at the moment - 50 hot stamps, 75 $0.50, 75 $1.00, 100 $5s

It is tax season at EMS and I can't play like I want to . . . . DrStrange

interested to see the chips. also, you may have already heard this, but despite appearance (it's basically a storefront in a strip mall iirc), Palomar at least at one time had some of the highest stakes games available in san diego. i don't recall whether it was in posts made to 2+2 or in interviews on the podcast, but barry greenstein tells some interesting stories involving games he's played there.

didn't mean to derail - enjoy the chips!

I went there about ten years ago and (I think) posted about it on CT. A half-dozen tables, only one going at 1/2 -- think it was a Thursday early evening.

Also what I thought were pretty crappy chips -- think they were the Chipcos shown on ChipGuide.

Those orange $5s are pretty nice!

OK - a stole a few minutes and counted the chips.

All of these are Paulson chips
53 hot stamped fifty-cent chips
82 $0.50s
76 $1s
104 $5s
replacing the hot stamps with Outpost $20s gives me a total bank of $1,688. Hopefully enough to run a hotel room poker game with a short handed table playing $0.50/$0.50 blinds.

The inlay chips match the chips at the bottom of the chip guide page. The hot stamped $0.50 chips match the form of the other hot stamped chips, though there is no record of the fifty cent chips existing (aside from the fact I have 53 of them sitting in my kitchen). It is sad that the hot stamps are in horrible condition.

Yes I do like the orange $5 chips!

PM me your shipping address, doc. Seems like mine have finally found a good home.

And now, some PrOn:

These chips are intended to be my traveling set. I can carry ~300 chips through the airport by hand.

"Fresh" from the casino and filthy. Given the lack of smoke smell, this card room might be close to non-smoking.

Cleaned and oiled. The oil made a huge difference.

The hot stamped $0.50 chips are worn to death. I post this mostly because the chip guide does not note the existance of this chip. Maybe this lot are the only ones left?

All uncleaned and headed towards a much needed bath and oil treatment.

First game scheduled is September 8th at the DoTerra national convention in Salt Lake City. PCF folks are welcome to join us.

PS - Well Crap!!! The colors are all wrong on the five dollar chip. I must have selected some filter and screwed up the picture because the images don't match the chip in my hand and I know they are the same.

Even worn, those gray fifty-centers are fine looking chips. Nice snag!

(Got your pm, will get them out this weekend.)

Anyone know the rules for cancelled gaming chips in California? The Palomar is still open, so these chips did not get on the market as part of a bankruptcy sale. I am curious how this set came to exist and no others seem to be floating around.
