(I found this in the dusty recesses of my old bedroom at my parent's house... not sure if it's of interest to anyone else, but I figured I'd post this here since there's no "Historical" thread.)

Before it was available to the general public, Jim offered a sample half-pie chip on the brand new FDL mold to CT members.

Of note is that chip is slightly larger than the standard ASM chips of the time -- probably measures at 40mm. Not noticeable when sitting beside the ASMs, but you could feel the difference when it was mixed in a stack.

Avalon chip with a different inlay. Probably Jim had extras made.

It's been a while -- I thought he did that chip before he released the Avalon set as a sample to drive interest. I could be wrong, though, and I can't find the original thread on CT to check.

Yeah I beleive I got mine in a sample manufacturer set that CT put together showcasing a bunch of different chip types/styles/manufacturers. IIRC it was about 5-6 years ago or so.
