Hi all,

I am currently in the middle of planning a trip to Vegas, and am racking my brains as to where to stay?!

Ignoring the poker / casino element of the building, what are people's thoughts on the Bellagio as a hotel?

I'm hearing so many mixed reviews, so wanted to get the opinion of people I trust on here. I'm getting the impression that the standard Bellagio rooms are quite disappointing, and to really enjoy a stay there, the suites are kind of a must?

Obviously I know you could end up having a bad experience at any hotel on the strip, but I guess I'm trying to find somewhere that rarely dissapoints across the board? I don't want our first trip to fall flat on the hotel front, basically.

Advice and recommendations very welcome.

Best,

Jack.

Never stayed at the Bellagio, but hear it's pretty good. I spent last weekend at the MGM. My wife loved the lazy river and I loved the poker room. So, win win!

I prefer the Aria.

I like the Bellagio, it has an older feel to it I guess in comparison to some of the newer casinos. Rooms are average but I haven't stayed in a suite there yet. I normally stay at the Aria and the MGM personally. Aria is my preference and the suites are pretty nice with a lot of windows.

If going with wife/gf/mistress, you get points by staying at the Belaaaaaaaaagio. It is nice. While the poker is my favorite poker room on the strip, I've only stayed there once, and it wasn't a suite but still it was still nice. If not going with wife/gf/mistress, then stay somewhere cheaper and still play at the Bellagio room.

The Bellagio Poker room is my favorite because it has its fair share of tourists at 1/3 that makes a little easier and more fun. There are some grinders and pros at the higher stakes. Great drink service, and most importantly, you are not sandwiched in like you are at other rooms, such as the Aria. If you want to play with the best, go to Aria, it has the most grinders and nits and lowest tourist ratio on the strip but you are packed in and your chair gets bumped everytime someone walks by (they need to take about 4 tables out of that room, IMO).

Bellagio is great. But if you end up in the spa tower you might as well stay at the Aria. I think they are both about the same. But the Cosmo blows them both out of the water.......but no poker room. But if you aren't in the Aria poker by midday you are going to wait.....a looooooong time.

ETA: my wife has champagne taste and loved the Belagio.....until we stayed at the Cosmo. I will play hell trying to get her to stay anywhere else

Hahaha, indeed going with the missus, so that's some really sound advice, thanks! I have no intention of wanting to play with the best on the strip, so a drunk-tourist-filled 1/3 below my room sounds perfect. Cheers dude.

The Cosmo is definitely food for thought, thanks - lack of poker room or casino not really an issue as I will uber to where I want to play. Now, let's have a look at their prices, shall we...

You're within a 5-10 min walk of Bellagio, Aria, and Planet Hollywood poker rooms. Another sweet thing about Cosmo is the balconies too.

I agree completely with the statement on the Cosmo. Additionally, it is a Marriott property, so you can use points if you have them, or get a Marriott credit card for the sign-up bonus points and use those points to cover a couple of nights.

I recently stayed at the Cosmo, venetian and PH and was really impressed with the Cosmo. The wife always wanted to stay at the Venetian, but even she preferred Cosmo.

The balconys have great views too

Wow... a view doesn't get much better than that, surely? Did you rate The Venetian, as that is another option on my list?

Since your profile looks like you are from the UK I am going to assume you are coming from overseas and don't go to Vegas much. If you are only going to Vegas once or twice in your life then I think staying at the B is a must. It is one of the most if not THE most iconic location. The standard rooms are nothing special I will grant you that but they are also not horrible. It is just a hotel room. Even if you do have issues the customer service is 5 stars and they will take care of you.

When me and my wife checked in the AC in our room wasn't working. We called down and just had our room switched which was quick and easy.

What makes the B special is the fountain show which is one of the best spectacles in all of Vegas and just so happens to be free.

If you are going with the missus then I highly recommend getting a room with a fountain view. You can set the room TV to a channel that will play the music that synchronizes with the fountain show. Get a bottle of champagne or bottle of wine and enjoy a nice evening in your room together. This was my wifes favourite part of our whole trip.

My favourite part of the trip was eating ribs and drinking beer at Ellis Island.

There are more fancy places you can stay on the strip. Cosmo, Aria, Encore, Wynn, Palazzo, and Venetian are all newer and probably nicer than the B but none are as iconic. B can feel a bit old compared to the new ultra modern resorts but to me it has more of the old school charm and is still a very nice option. The B has a warmer feel than any of the new resorts.

I did really like the venetian, but imo I'd rather be more centrally located like Cosmo and Bellagio.

Venetian was huge and was themed very nicely and the rooms were pretty amazing too. I believe that's just the standard room too

The Cosmo room was still very nice, but not as nice as the room in the Venetian. The balcony sealed the deal though and the wife loved watching the Bellagio fountain show from up there at night.

The venetian room really was awesome. Definitely worth a consideration for your trip. I think as much as Bellagio is iconic, a lot of non gamblers probably have heard more about the venetian than Bellagio. I know my wife was really very excited to go there. And it's very well themed, with the dones ceilings and canal.

Really appreciate that wisdom and advice, man! You're right, being in the UK means it won't be a regular thing, and I am a sucker for Old School Vegas charm... So you've definitely sold it to me, for sure.

Daaaaamn, that standard Venetian room is something really special. Just out of interest, which room did you have at the Cosmo? Was it one of the ones with a Japanese drop bath tub?

Wow! Shortlist is definitely the Bellagio, Venetian and Cosmo, as it stands after hearing everyone's thoughts.

My wife and I stayed at the Bellagio (corner suite, fountain view) and will never stay there again. During our stay, here's what we encountered:
  • Noise - though 23 floors above the club, our windows rattled until 4am (we sleep with a sound machine - didn't help). When we called down to complain, we were told they have no clue when the club will close.
  • AC Broke - that was fun
  • Automated curtains broke - Bellagio Fountain view (they wouldn't open)
  • Tech walked in without knocking while my wife was alone and in the shower
  • Another tech came in, shit in the toilet and didn't flush
This was all during our 5 day stay. IMHO, save your money for shows, drinking, food, and gambling and go to a cheaper hotel.

@jr8719 The truth is you can experience all the charm regardless of where you stay. As I said the rooms at the B aren't anything special. Even if you stay elsewhere you can enjoy walking through the casino and see the fountain show from outside. I wouldn't over think where you are going to stay. I think the B is nice but any of the upper scale places are also nice. I recently stayed at Park MGM and while I don't like the theme of the casino it is a brand new place which means the rooms are spotless. I am a bit of a clean freak so I appreciate brand new hotels where the bathroom tile and everything is still super new and clean.

But yeah you can't go too wrong with any of the higher end places. Those Venetian rooms look tempting. The only drawback of Venetian is that it is a bit out of the way. I also really like Planet Hollywood. It is a bit more of a trendy party vibe but the rooms are always clean and nice. PH is a more modern design so nothing nearly as opulent as the Venetian.

Cosmo is a great option as there are so many good places to eat inside.

Whether you stay there or not you should eat at Eggslut for breakfast (its fast food with a long line) and Wicked Spoon which is their upscale buffet that serves brunch and dinner.

Yeah, I guess regardless of where we end up staying, the B fountains will always be there for us to enioy as a spectacle anyway. Eggslut sounds great... Do I search that on Google or Pornhub, just out of interest?

Many "luxury" hotels around the world have bed bugs, for the simple reason they never have the time to propperly steam-clean the rooms (other than change sheets, but the bugs are in the mattresses, inner pillows, curtains and carpets). It's industrial tourism (a true plague).
You 'll need weeks of treatment for bug bites and keeping your luggage out of the house for de-contamination, if you suffer this.
I 'd be staying in any place ranked as "the cleanest" in any major tourist location around the world even if that meant a long walk or taxi drive to my place of particular interest.

My go to place has been the Palazzo ever since it opened (sister hotel to the Venitian). They boast the largest standard size rooms @ about 725 square feet. Stay at the Venitian if you’re looking for more action. Much bigger and more happening. Highly recommend either. I’ve stayed at the Bellagio twice and enjoyed the stay. Further down the strip is the Wynn. Nice rooms. Enjoy! Lots of options in Vegas!

Cheers man! Definitely lots of food for thought, but some clear common recommendations coming from everyone here.

Huge fan of staying at Cosmopolitan and Bellagio. Check out the Cypress Suites at Bellagio, my favorite room I’ve stayed in. Cosmopolitans balconies are a close second.

For reference, we’ve stayed at both of those plus MGM, Signature at MGM, Flamingo, NYNY, Excalibur, Ceasars, Tropicana, Barbary Coast (now Cromwell), and a bunch of times at Harrahs which was our go to when we needed a budget option. Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo are gorgeous but we’ve never stayed, I prefer to be closer to the center of the strip
