Alright bit of a odd question for this site. My small group has recently been wanting to play tourneys and I only have a cash set. I only have DDLM cash set and am going to order some cheap chips to use until someone decides to make another group buy for some sunflys. So, what are some good cheap chips that are bearable?

Why, may I ask, are you stuck on the Sun Flys? If you keep your eye open, there may be some good alternatives around. Like the WSOP 36mm tourney solids from The Chip Exchange.

That's where I was leading. I feel like I've played at a local place that used the showdowns. Are they similar across the board?

I got some samples a while back and am in love. Probably will pull the trigger on customs one day.

All I'm saying is, if you can get a temporary set at a good price that will keep its value (Paulson clay), then you can recoup your costs while you wait to design your customs. Ain't gonna happen with cheap plastic sluggers or CC's. But to each their own.

Well this would sort of serve two purposes. One guy who insists on hosting on occasion uses dice chips. So if I buy these now, then after I acquire the sunfly chips I just hand these off to him as a gift.

My first venture away from dice chips was claysmith bluff canyon casino. At that price point claysmith is great and now that I have a ceramic set coming from brpro the claysmith chips went to my daughter who is now starting to have poker nights in her apartment. If plastic sluggos is what the budget allows, claysmith is going to be great for you

You'll love the ceramic set. DDLM best hobby purchase I've ever made.

I agree, for the price, Sunfly 43mm with smaller recess are best bang for your buck in my opinion. Occasionally you can find some nice BCC in that price range too.

I had a CPC set of the Atlantic Club hotstamp, but after getting samples of ceramics I just liked them better. Which I know is the severe minority. So to me the 43mm isn't just a great bang for the buck, it's in my opinion the best option

I have AC HS as well. Love em, obviously different, but also love the Sunfly. Doesn’t hurt that they are cheaper though, amirite? Customization options at Sunfly are outstanding also. It makes you wonder why there is no US competition in the ceramic hybrid market. Or is there?

Just remembered and your the one who bought my CPC set:LOL: :ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

The great irony in all this is that my group never wanted to play tourney when I had these so eventually sold and then purchased DDLM cash. Life is strange at times

Even more ironic is I love em but haven’t played them because we also only play cash. Going to try to do a Pineapple tourney though in hopes that it moves quickly and into cash game anyway.

How about a different approach/mindset? Spend a few hundred dollars (100-300?) on a nice set. Take care of them. Sell them at the same cost when you find your keeper set.

Rental fee: cost of 1 way shipping (~$15?)

I get this approach as it sort of worked that way for the CPCs, but as mentioned would like to gift these to one of the guys in the group afterwards.

I wouldn't bet the farm on the 36mms keeping their value. They're still fairly new to our market and lots of people are just skeptical. I's hard to imagine them not holding value at these latest pricepoints, but all we know for sure is that the people who bought them the first time around got screwed. And that lots of stock remains at this newer lower pricepoint.
